In1964, he founder the Kitchener-WaterlooAssociation and was the first President. Hespend endless hours building the association andfulfilled numerous functions, including lanecertification, memberships, etc. and all at his ownexpense. In 1964, he was the driving force instaging the 5 pin bowling championships we areplaying today, and followed it up by installing fourlanes in the annex of the Kitchener Auditorium tohost the Canadian Championships in fine style.Just imagine the amount of work involved in thatproject. As we know, Orv was an excellentbowler and a real student of the game. In 1961,he bowled a perfect game at SportsmansBowlerama in Guelph. In his travels, wherewere extensive, Orv would look for a localbowling centre and play the game housed there, whether 5 pin or 10 pin, duck pins or candlepins.A self made man, Orv loved bowling and will bemissed not only in Kitchener, but across Canada. With the approval of Orvs wife, Adele, theMasters have inaugurated the Orv BaumanMemorial Trophy to be Presented to theaggregate winner of the mens teaching division.Orv worked with senior citizens and blind bowlersas an instructor and coach, and it is only fittingthat this trophy assumes a place in ourorganization. The Tournament Book 2011-2012: 29
