Course Selection Sheets2010-2011Although it may seem early, it is already time to start requesting courses for the 2010-2011 school year. Yourgoal for requesting courses for next school year should be to choose courses that are rigorous, courses that arerelevant to your interests, and courses that will help you meet your goals after graduating from high school.• All students are required to schedule 8 courses and 2-4 alternates. Please list alternates on yourcourse request sheet in order of preference. Alternates will be used if a student’s first choice isunavailable.• Students must be enrolled in one or more English and Social Studies courses every year. Studentsmust take 4 Math and 4 Science courses during their high school career.• Students must meet all prerequisites required for the courses being requested. Please refer to thecourse selection guide for details.Students will have a course request presentation in their Social Studies class, as well as receive a courseselection guide to assist in this process. The presentation and documents will also be available though the highschool website.Current teachers in English, Math, Social Studies, and Science will assign levels for their students in thesescourses based on their present academic data. This academic data will be revisited in May and changes maybe considered at that time.Please review the timeline to follow during the course request process:February 8-11February 25March 1March 4-10March 11-June 10June 11-June 30June 30AugustCourse selection presentations in Social Studies classes and materialsdistributed.Course Selection Night - 6: 30 PM for incoming freshmen in theAuditorium, 7 PM in the cafeteria for incoming sophomores, juniors, andseniors.Course Selection sheets are due to homeroom teachers.Students will enter courses into Sapphire during Computer TechnologyClass. Students will need their username, password and pin to accessthe site. If you do not have this information please see Mrs. Bleacher inthe main office. Students at this time will receive a copy of the coursesthey selected for the 2010-2011 school year.
