<strong>Course</strong> <strong>Selection</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong>s2010-2011Although it may seem early, it is already time to start requesting courses <strong>for</strong> the 2010-2011 school year. Yourgoal <strong>for</strong> requesting courses <strong>for</strong> next school year should be to choose courses that are rigorous, courses that arerelevant to your interests, and courses that will help you meet your goals after graduating from high school.• All students are required to schedule 8 courses and 2-4 alternates. Please list alternates on yourcourse request sheet in order of preference. Alternates will be used if a student’s first choice isunavailable.• Students must be enrolled in one or more English and Social Studies courses every year. Studentsmust take 4 Math and 4 Science courses during their high school career.• Students must meet all prerequisites required <strong>for</strong> the courses being requested. Please refer to thecourse selection guide <strong>for</strong> details.Students will have a course request presentation in their Social Studies class, as well as receive a courseselection guide to assist in this process. The presentation and documents will also be available though the highschool website.Current teachers in English, Math, Social Studies, and Science will assign levels <strong>for</strong> their students in thesescourses based on their present academic data. This academic data will be revisited in May and changes maybe considered at that time.Please review the timeline to follow during the course request process:February 8-11February 25March 1March 4-10March 11-June 10June 11-June 30June 30August<strong>Course</strong> selection presentations in Social Studies classes and materialsdistributed.<strong>Course</strong> <strong>Selection</strong> Night - 6: 30 PM <strong>for</strong> incoming freshmen in theAuditorium, 7 PM in the cafeteria <strong>for</strong> incoming sophomores, juniors, andseniors.<strong>Course</strong> <strong>Selection</strong> sheets are due to homeroom teachers.Students will enter courses into Sapphire during Computer TechnologyClass. Students will need their username, password and pin to accessthe site. If you do not have this in<strong>for</strong>mation please see Mrs. Bleacher inthe main office. Students at this time will receive a copy of the coursesthey selected <strong>for</strong> the 2010-2011 school year. This is not a schedule.Students can make course request changes by contacting the <strong>School</strong>Counselor at <strong>Marticville</strong> MS.Students can make course request changes by contacting the <strong>School</strong>Counseling Department at the High <strong>School</strong>.Last day to request schedule changes <strong>for</strong> the 2010-2011 school year.Students will receive their final schedules <strong>for</strong> the 2010-2011 school yearby mail.Selecting challenging and relevant courses is an important piece in helping connect a student’shigh school education with their future goals.
