Class begins seatedfor gentle rocking motions that ease the spine intomobility. The motion is continuous and movesthrough all possible articulations of the spine and, along with the coordinated use of breath, aims tofully open the center body. The arms and legs areadded to the mix until most blockages have beenworked through. Then, kneeling and standing, various active stretches are done to prepare thebody for deeper strengthening and stretching. Onthe floor the class works through a variety ofpositions that use internal opposition to createconnection and length which ultimately lead to amore efficient, calmer and stronger body. To finishthe Gyrokinesis warm-up, there is anopening/centering exercise that allows the bodyto integrate the work and focus the mind. From this basis we will develop travelling exercisesin and out of the floor, culminating in achoreographic phrase which will be built onduring the week.MORNING BALLET CLASS WITHDEIRDRE O’NEILLDates: 30th April to 4th MayTime: 10am to 11.30amFees: DI Members €5 per class, €20 per week.Non Members: €8 per classVenue: DanceHouse, Foley St, Dublin 1Deirdre O’ Neill trained professionally at BushDavies and Laine Theatre Arts, England.
