The townbo<strong>as</strong>ts an attractive Ottoman Old Town andis well known for its gold and silver filigreecraftsmen. Highlights include visiting theHamam, the Museum of Prizreni League, theEthnographic Museum, the Helveti Tekke,Sinia P<strong>as</strong>ha Mosque, the oldest tree in Kosovoand the church of Our Lady of Ljeviš. (B,L)Day 3 Prizren to PrishtinaDrive to Prishtina visiting the sacred villageof Letnica en route. Nestled in the mountains,this semi-deserted village is transformed eachAugust for the Fe<strong>as</strong>t of the Black Madonnawhen thousands visit the place where thefamous nun received her calling. In 1917,7-year-old Agnesa Bojaxhiu w<strong>as</strong> visitingLetnica from her home in nearby Skopje -she later became known <strong>as</strong> Mother Teresa,whose work with the poor in Calcutta broughther international fame. A stop is made atGracanica to see a superb example of a14th century Serb Orthodox Church beforearriving in Prishtina for a two night stay. (B,L)Day 4 PrishtinaEmbark on a walking tour of Prishtina, visitingthe National Library, Prishtina University andthe Museum of Kosovo. We see the Houseof Kosovo Academy, Carshi Mosque (BazaarMosque) and the Emin Gjiku EthnographicMuseum housed in a typical Ottomantownhouse en route. In the afternoon, travelto the Archaeological site of Upliana, onceone of the most important Roman cities inthe Balkans. (B,D)Day 5 Prishtina to PejaHead west to the Memorial Complex ofthe Battle of Kosovo (Gazimestan). Visitthe Mausoleum – the final resting place ofSultan Murat Tyrbe following his <strong>as</strong>s<strong>as</strong>sinationduring the Battle of Kosova (1389 AD). Makea poignant stop at the legendary village ofPrekaz, where the attack by Serbian militarypolice w<strong>as</strong> launched on 5th March1998.After lunch and tour of the Trout farm atIstog, continue to Peja to overnight. (B,L)Day 6 Peja to GjakovaDrive to the stunning Rugova Gorge, wherethe peaks of the Accursed Mountains,straddling the border with Montenegro,rise up to 2,560 metres and spectaculargranite cliffs climb almost vertically for over1,000 metres. Visit Peć Patriarch, once theseat of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Thiscomplex of medieval churches is packed withfrescoes and overlooks a spectacular jaggedgorge. Continue further up Rugova Gorgeto Drelaj, a small mountain cheese-makingfactory. Here, t<strong>as</strong>te deliciously fresh Rugovacheese before walking to the family farm ofMr Osman Shala for a welcome refreshmentof mountain honey and cool Rugova water.Stop at a Kull<strong>as</strong> - unique traditional stonehouse - before continuing to Gjakova for atwo night stay. (B,L)Day 7 GjakovaEnjoy a tour of Gjakova with visits to thelocal Bekt<strong>as</strong>hi Community, the Old Marketand Hadum Aga Mosque.
