PYROFLUX 110, 390QUICK REACTING DROSSING FLUX FOR ALUMINIUM ALLOYSPYROFLUXTEMPERATURE RANGEThe recommended temperature range is1325–1360ºF (718–738ºC) for fast reactions.Metal-rich dross drains profits Dry dross increases yieldQuality castings begin with proper fluxing practices. Contact your Pyrotek SalesEngineer to determine the appropriate flux for your operation. 866-Pyrotek(866-797-6835)PYROFLUX 110 AND 390This is an aluminium flux specifically designed for use with any alloy, exceptwhere sodium may present a problem. It is unique in that this flux will provide a quick reaction and produce a fine, powdery dross when worked properly into the dross.PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND BLENDVARIATIONS• Pyroflux 110 is a white powder fluxcontaining sodium chloride, potassiumchloride, sodium silicofluoride, sodiumcarbonate and potassium nitrate.• Pyroflux 390 is a white powder fluxcontaining potassium chloride, potassiumnitrate, potassium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium carbonate and sodium silicofluoride.• Pyroflux 110 is blended for low temperatureapplications.• Pyroflux 390 has the addition of potassiumsulfate to support higher temperatureapplications. It allows the flux to fire in alloyspouring at higher temperatures.FLUX FEATURES• Primarily designed for use in crucible-type furnaces as well as reverberatoryfurnaces. It will produce a fine, gray, metal free dross.• Add to the crucible as the first charge of ingot is introduced. Allow the fluxto cover the surface during the melting cycle. When charge is complete, add additional amount of product and work normally.• When using with reverberatory-type furnace, broadcast manually ratherthan blowing it into the furnace to diminish the amount of smoke generatedby separation of the flux components, which may attach to the high wallsand roof of the furnace.FLUX OVERVIEW TABLEPyrofluxProductCompatibleAl AlloysTemp ºF(ºC)Flux Type Typical Areas of Use FeaturesCover / Drossing Crucible Reverb Other InjectMetalCleaning/InjectionWallCleaning· 110· 390Any Alalloyexcept withsodium1300–1360(718–738)X X X · Quick reacting flux· Fine, powdery dross· Not used where sodiummay present a problem· 110 is a low temp flux· 390 contains potassiumsulfate

PYROFLUX 110, 390IN-USE CONSIDERATIONS• Always consult your sales representative regarding your specific fluxing needs.• In general, a higher metal temperature increases the efficiency of the flux. Under certain circumstances, a higher temperaturedecreases the amount of flux required.• Variables such as amount of dross being treated, chemistry of alloy, atmospheric conditions around the furnace, method ofapplication, etc., should all be taken into consideration when determining the best formulation for optimum results. Variablesthat predominantly determine the selection of injectable fluxes are temperature, alloy, and time allowed for treatment.PACKAGING AND STORAGEShelf life of most materials is one year from the date of manufacture, which is listed on the certificate of analysis that accompanieseach shipment.Store all flux in dry conditions, avoiding the presence of moisture. Avoid static sparks, welding and open flames. Store in theiroriginal packaging of drums, bulk bags or individual bags.• 25 pound bag (~11 kg)• 500 pound drum (227 kg)• 2000 pound bulk bag (907 kg)HEALTH AND SAFETYReview the associated MSDS prior to use.Note: The physical and chemical properties listed represent typical, average values obtained in accordance withaccepted test methods and are subject to normal manufacturing variations. They are supplied as a technicalservice and are subject to change without notice.Product Type: 127Commodity Code: 07021Contact Information: www.pyrotek.info/locationsPYROTEK INC. • CORPORATE OFFICE • 9503 E.
