Clinical Benefits
• In historical studies, the use of an air abrasive device has been well tolerated by patients without anesthesia.
When an anesthetic is not used, time savings and treatments to more quadrants are possible.
• Studies have shown that air abrasive surface modification plus acid etching improves bond strengths over acid etching
alone.
• The prepjet simultaneously cleans pits and fissures and prepares the surface for bonding, allowing sealants to
be placed in less time.
• It conservatively removes “stain” (the organic plug) from the bottom of grooves, facilitating visual diagnosis of pit
fissure caries. Detected caries can then be immediately and conservatively eliminated using the prepjet.
• By eliminating vibration, the prepjet reduces the risk of micro fracturing and allows even delicate porcelain
veneers to be repaired safely.
• The prepjet reduces the heat, smell and bone-conducted noise normally associated with cavity preparation, dramati-
cally improving patient acceptance of treatment.
