Sand thebottom face of the floor and edges until smooth andclean.• New Wood Floor--Cut (or purchase) new wood floorto fit in vehicle. Drill all holes required and pre-install tocheck fit and finish. (Try to maintain a 1/8” gap betweenthe floor edge and the floor support structure.) Thenlightly sand all surfaces including edges.Applying the Wood Floor Barrier Material:Step 1--Lay the wood floor panel on a table, with the “bottomside” facing up. Lay out Weather Barrier Material“bottom side up.” Smooth out any wrinkles.Step 2 --Apply an even coat of spray adhesive to the surfaceof the wood. (Stand back and look across the woodserface to be sure there are no “dry” spots. Do not putspray adhesive on the edges of wood. Fastenersand ScrewsFirewall Mounting Pin OptionsFor Older Cars and TrucksAmerican Cars and Trucks used a wide variety of mounting pins, clips, buttons andscrews to attach the firewall insulator to the interior of the steel firewall bulkhead.Clean up and reuse your original mounting pins if you have them. We offer thefol-lowing mounting pins and information based on what we have been able to findavail-able.Early <strong>Ford</strong> Firewall Mounting PinsThese all steel firewall mounting pins are a reproduction of the originals. They areavailable in a 3/4 inch length (Long) and in a 1/2 inch length (Short). The long pinswork best for the early production cars and trucks. The Short pin works best for the1942-48 cars and 1940-47 Trucks. The long pins may have been used in <strong>Ford</strong> cars aslate as 1954.
