Inlet collars for slip-joint connectionand lifting lugs are also standard. All housings arereinforced with rigid bracing to increase structuralintegrity. The support angles are intermittently weldedand caulked between welds to prevent bleed-throughcorrosion. BCS WheelThe BCS wheel features heavy-gauge steel constructionand a non-overloading wheel design, suitable forapplications requiring large volumes of air at moderateto high pressures.The high efficiency wheel features backward curvedblades of single thickness, continuously welded to therim and backplate.A conical spun shroud (rim) makes BCS fans lesssusceptible to the performance losses associated withpoor inlet conditions.All BCS wheels are statically and dynamically balancedto grade G6.3 per ANSI S2.19 for smoothoperation prior to assembly of the fan, followed by afinal balance of the entire rotating assembly.ShaftShafts are AISI-1018, 1040 or 1045 hot-rolled steelaccurately turned, ground, polished, and ring gaugedfor accuracy. Shafts are generously sized for first criticalspeed of at least 1.43 times the maximum speedfor the class.ConstructionFeaturesBCS WheelBearingsBearings are heavy-duty, grease-lubricated, anti-frictionball or roller, self-aligning, pillow block type and areselected for minimum average bearing life (AFBMAL-50) in excess of 200,000 hours at the maximumfan RPM.Rotation and DischargeBoth clockwise and counterclockwise rotations areavailable in various standard discharge positions. See page 7.Outlet FlangePunched outlet flange is provided as standard constructionon all sizes.Arrangement 1Mechanical Run Test & Final VibrationCheckAll fans are assembled for a mechanical run test aswell as final balance prior to shipment. Vibration readingsare taken on both fan bearings in the axial, horizontal,and vertical directions at the specified speed.Fans are balanced to 0.15 in/sec. peak or less.Special MaterialsBCS fans can be constructed of special materials suchas aluminum and stainless steel.www.tcf.com3
