It is near Ralston Dam at the lower iend of watisknown as the Meadows on the middlefork of the middle fork of the AmericanRiver called Alta, also 1 watch $50. 1 graded horse $75. 1885 states itisat French Meadows. This is about 30 miles out of Forest Hill, and is nowapopular camping and fishing lake. in 1885 he halso had a colt value $30.John doesn't appear in the 87 or 89 assessments. perhaps that was whenhewas working for the Iowa Hill Canal Company.
