IN FOKUSThe winners of the "Doorways of the Future"Innovation Competition imagineTwo first places and one third placecomprise the result of the <strong>VBH</strong> doorwaysInnovation Competition. Thebroad spectrum of ideas and suggestionssubmitted shows that there continuesto be potential in the furtherdevelopment of the entrances to ourhouses. In the future, the entrancesof buildings may be completely differentfrom what we imagine today. At thefensterbau/frontale the winning worksof the three prize-winners wereunveiled to the public.Two first equal places were awarded atthe prize ceremony of the InnovationCompetition: Architect Peter Haimerl,Munich, in cooperation with Z-Fenster-Technik, Hausen/Herrnwahlthann, andPetra Elfriede Gumbrecht of Bau3Architects, Nuremberg, together withTrendTüren from Beilngries, receivedthe highest award for of their respectivedesigns. In the 3rd place, the jurychose the design of the three Mastersstudents from Ebern: Soren Sauer,Alexander Hörner and Thomas Kelleras well as Dipl.-Eng. Renee Lorenzfrom Grub am Forst.The task was to design a doorway forresidential buildings with one or moreresidential units. <strong>VBH</strong> offered prizes of€20,000 with the aim to promote innovationin combining new techniquesand materials and to create interfacesbetween industry, contractors andarchitects to ensure the future compatibilityof individual elements. In total14 works were judged by the jury.
