Ringfeder CouplingCoupling procedure to be adhered to7 September 2011, from Chris Scahill, Product Manager – Transport EquipmentIn certain operating conditions there is potential for the function of the manual safety device tobe impaired by unusual debris buildup. To avoid this situation, regular inspection and maintenance is to be carried out as follows.Apply a light weight lubricant such as WD40 / CRC (or equivalent) and operate safety device toensure any debris is cleared from the device shaft.Note:Maintenance intervals are dependent on operating environment.Check the star handle is in its internal engaged position as below.Transport Specialties Ltd. Cnr Kerrs & Ash Roads, Wiri, PO Box 98-971, SAMC, Auckland, New Zealand.Phone: +64 09 980 7300 Fax: +64 09 980 7306 Email: sales@transpecs.co.nz Web: www.transpecs.co.nzPage 1 of 2

When coupling the following procedure should be adhered to.Check that after each coupling process the safety device is fully engaged. If the security knob is not in its internal engaged position, the security of the trailer coupling iscompromised and the whole coupling procedure must be repeated.Note:The old style safety device may appear engaged but the pin may still be extended.(Pin not seated in v groove as per photo above). It is recommended that regular checks of the coupling are made to ensure lower bushes andinternal mechanisms are free of dirt and debris.Note:The coupling bolt must belowered to the closed positionafter a trailer is decoupled toprevent stones or other debrisfrom lodging in the lower bush.Transport Specialties Ltd.
