QuickSpecsHP Integrity rx7640 ServerConfigurationUPSManagement of local UPSs for the rx7640 and rx8640 is now through a LAN port on the core I/Ocard. Management of UPSs by the predecessor, rx7620 and rx8620 servers was through a serialport on the core I/O. The serial port is not available on the rx7640 and rx8640 servers. Therefore, when upgrading or adding rx7640 and rx8640 servers to your environment and using local UPSs(as opposed to datacenter wide UPSs), make sure there is a LAN management card available onthe local UPS.HP 10000 and 9000Racks (These racks arethe pre-merger Compaqracks)The HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers are supported for field installs into these racks. Factoryintegration is not yet supported for HP 10000 and HP 9000 racks. Differing depth requirements ofthe HP 9000/HP Integrity racking kits preclude racking HP 9000/HP Integrity servers and HPProLiant servers in the same racks.Refer to the 10000 G2 Series Rack Best Practices Guide for Information on rack deployment, stabilization, and transportation. Go tohttp://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/platforms/rackandpower.html for more information. When field racking for the mid-range servers in any rack (10K G2, System E or third-party), thecustomer will have t order the appropriate service product (HA124A1 option 570 - HP StartupField Racked Mid Server Service). For further details, refer to the racking solutions subchapter in the configuration guide.Third-Party RackingHP Servers are designed to maximize performance density when installed into HP Rack Systems.HP system Rack Systems maintain the high level of safety and reliability of HP Server solutionsthat customers have come to expect. Although HP strongly recommends racking servers in HPRack Systems, it is recognizes that some customer circumstances may prohibit this. For thosecustomers, HP has developed a set of guidelines that when followed, enables server installationsinto third-party cabinets. It is extremely important that the guidelines be followed due to the widevariety of cabinets in the market place.DA - 12470 Worldwide QuickSpecs — Version 19 — 8-1-2008 Page 24
