5ex Australian Imperial Force-men, <strong>and</strong> their immediate dependentsexpenseof the treatment of a certain number of these cases in Hospital.It is also bearing theMedical Staff.—An alteration was made in the appointment of the Medical Staff of theInstitution, <strong>and</strong> under alteration of ^By-Law No. 54, two additional Medical Officers Wereappointed as Honoraries to the Out-Patients Department, also Honorary Pathologist, Skiagraphist,Oculist <strong>and</strong> Dentist. The gentlemen appointed to these offices have rendered valuable assistanceto the Institution during the past year, <strong>and</strong> your Committee desires to tender its thanks tothem for their valuable services.Your Committee especially desires to express its appreciation of the work done by theNursing Staff under trying conditions. There has been an exceptional number of patientstreated during the year, which has placed a great strain on their resources, also the shortage ofNursing Staff, which has been due to the want of suitable Probationers to fill the positionsrendered vacant.Gifts.—The Committee desire to tender its thanks to the Belmont W.CT.Union, Ladies'Flower Mission, for supplying flowers ; the Proprietors of the <strong>Geelong</strong> Advertiser, <strong>Geelong</strong>Times, Argus, Age, Leader <strong>and</strong> Australasian for supplying their respective Journals.Thanks are also tendered to the friends of the Institution, who provided the usualChristmas Dinner, Tobacco <strong>and</strong> Cigars for the patients <strong>and</strong> inmates.Legacies <strong>and</strong> Bequests.—We would bring the matter of remembering the Institutionprominently before those who are able to leave a legacy to this Charity when making their Wills.The receipts from bequests have been of great benefit to the Institution, <strong>and</strong> trust that in view ofthe increased cost of maintaining the Institution, this item will be increased.Reserve <strong>and</strong> Endowment Fund.—The amount to the credit of Reserve Fund is.0512/6/5, <strong>and</strong> Endowment Fund £7685/2/6.Obituary.—During the year, we have lost the services of Mr. A. J. Young, who has beenAuditor for many years. Your Committee expresses its sympathy with the relatives of thedeceased gentleman, <strong>and</strong> desires to place on record its appreciation of his sterling worth <strong>and</strong>the amount of valuable assistance he rendered the Institution.Nursing Department.—During the year thirteen_N]it-sps presented themselves for, <strong>and</strong>were successful in passing the final examination'of the R.V.T.N.A.Fifteen Probationers havebeen appointed during the year.Life Subscribers elected.—Messrs. W. Bell, T. Bowman, W. Hirst <strong>and</strong> W. Leggo.Annual Subscribers.—Sir Robert Gibson, k.b.e.Life Governor.—Mrs. Jim Smith.At the last Annual Meeting, Mr. James Wighton was re-elected President. Messrs.W. W. Bradley <strong>and</strong> II. Blomfield Brown, Vice-Presidents. G. B. Humble, W. Higgins,J. T. Kerley, T. McCormick <strong>and</strong> J. Jamie, were elected members of the Committee of Management.According to the Rules, the following retire :— Mr. James Wighton, President; Messrs.W. W. Bradley <strong>and</strong> H. Blomfield Brown, Vice-Presidents ; Mr. H. K. S. Rusdeu, Hon Treasurer^They are eligible for re-election, with the exception of Mr. H. Blomfield Brown, <strong>and</strong> offerthemselves accordingly.The following members of the Committee also retire by effluxion of time :—Messrs. JamesD'Helin, J. A. Thear, E. L. Julien, <strong>and</strong> Rev. Kingsley Cole. They are eligible for re-election,<strong>and</strong> offer themselves accordingly.In conclusion, the Committee desire to cordially thank all who have in any way assisted theIusiituttCrt. during the year, including the Press for its criticism <strong>and</strong> suggestions.
