Annexure IIITOR and Deliverables for various field positions under TGFR9 TB ProjectTechnical OfficerSupervision: The Technical officer will work under direct supervision of FIND technicalTeam and Lab- in charge of the TB labReport: The Technical officer will report on daily basis to Administrative Head/ Director ofthe TB Lab designated by FINDTerm: 1 year contract, renewable annually subject to satisfactory work performance.Qualification:• M.Sc. (Microbiology/Medical Microbiology/Applied Microbiology/ Clinical Microbiology/Biotechnology/ Medical Biotechnology) or higher qualification.• Candidates with experience in Rapid TB diagnostics or molecular techniques would begiven preference.TOR• To assist FIND Technical team and microbiologist in-charge of rapid diagnostics inimplementation of WHO approved newer TB diagnostics, including diagnosis drugresistance in the TB Lab designated by FIND• To coordinate with the Director and Head of TB Laboratory of RNTCP culture & DSTsite, respective national reference laboratories and FIND technical and administrativestaff to ensure smooth implementation of Rapid TB Diagnostics in the TB Labdesignated by FIND.Responsibilities:1) Provide technical support to assist the culture and DST lab in expansion of the full rangeof newer TB diagnostic activities for rapid diagnosis of TB including drug resistance TBfor treatment under RNTCP;2) Conduct testing of patient specimen on LPA and LC at the lab in a timely manner;3) Manage clinical and laboratory aspects of the lab and ensure collection, recording andreporting of clean, quality data4) Support the Director and Head of TB Laboratory in planning and scaling up of qualityassured line probe assay (LPA) and liquid culture (LC) with rapid speciation (RS) usinglateral flow immune chromatographic assay for MDR-TB diagnosis;5) Get trained in performing newer diagnostics tests such as LPA, LC and RS;6) Implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for TB laboratories, includingSOPs for specific aspects LPA, LC and RS and specifications for equipment, infectioncontrol, etc, to ensure GLP;7) Ensure proficiency in identified newer TB diagnostics in the site allotted before they areapplied for patient care under RNTCP and ongoing maintenance of proficiency for thesediagnostics, ensuring accuracy of results being communicated to the TB patient;8) Provide support to the lab in-charge for all laboratory operations including regular MISfunctioning, maintenance of all lab equipments, Logistics of various lab consumables,etc.9) Supervise and support the lab technicians of the lab in day to day activities connectedwith newer TB diagnostics, ensuring quality control.
