IMPACT OFGIVINGMaintaining our Heritageand Advancing our FutureCUSHING’S RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES are an essential part of the Academyexperience. Approximately 85 percent of our students live on campus and in ourdorms, where lifelong friendships and student-teacher bonds are forged. As such, webelieve it is important to design, build, and maintain residential spaces that reflectand nurture the sense of community that makes Cushing special.Many of the residences on the Cushing campus have been housing our students andfaculty for generations. These historic buildings add to the charm and community ofthe Academy, but they also require regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure weare providing quality living spaces that meet the needs of our contemporary studentsand faculty.Gifts to the Cushing Academy Fund provide needed resources to maintain our historicbuildings, but this year, gifts to the Cushing Academy Fund have also offset the costsassociated with the construction of new faculty housing. The new building, housingtwo faculty residences, is now occupied and providing a home for two Cushingfaculty families .New faculty housing made possible because of donations to Cushing Academy2011-2012 CUSHING ANNUAL REPORT 21
