The sex offender treatment that is providedby the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Utah</str<strong>on</strong>g> Department of Correcti<strong>on</strong>s (UDC)Divisi<strong>on</strong> of Programm<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> the pris<strong>on</strong> systemis based <strong>on</strong> best practice pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>cipals. The sexoffender treatment is best described asCognitive/Behavioral therapy with a str<strong>on</strong>grelapse preventi<strong>on</strong> comp<strong>on</strong>ent. Therapy isprovided <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> a group psychotherapy format. Alltherapists provid<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g treatment to offendersare mental health professi<strong>on</strong>als that haveadditi<strong>on</strong>al tra<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g><str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> sex offender treatment.B. The goal of sex offender treatment is to lowerrecidivism. Identificati<strong>on</strong> of th<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>k<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g errors <strong>and</strong>irrati<strong>on</strong>al beliefs <strong>and</strong> a dem<strong>on</strong>strati<strong>on</strong> ofcorrected th<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>k<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g.7. Identificati<strong>on</strong> of risk factors.8. Interventi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> risk factors.9.
