ColoradoState Association <strong>of</strong> Health Underwriters 2009 Symposium. Ten minuteHT sessions were <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>and</strong> approximately 30 people received treatments. LauriPointer HTCP/I participated in an alternative health panel representing HT <strong>with</strong> anAcupunctur<strong>is</strong>t, a Chiropractor <strong>and</strong> a Hypnot<strong>is</strong>t. Lauri‟s presentation was <strong>well</strong> received<strong>and</strong> most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> panel questions received were about energy medicine <strong>and</strong> HT.International Caritas Consortium – from Tina Devoe RN, HTCP/I“I enjoyed <strong>the</strong> consortium <strong>and</strong> had many opportunities to share HT. The host, Roper, StFranc<strong>is</strong> (Bon Secours Healthcare) supplied HTP <strong>with</strong> a healing room <strong>with</strong> 2 tables. Wehad space to d<strong>is</strong>play <strong>the</strong> Wound <strong>Healing</strong> posters, <strong>and</strong> W<strong>all</strong>e Adams Gerdt‟s DupontHospital poster. Janet Neal arranged for HT volunteers to "Do <strong>the</strong> Work". We did notkeep count but we treated so many nurses <strong>and</strong> even <strong>the</strong> Magnolia Singers( <strong>the</strong>y were<strong>the</strong> opening act (Gospel singers) for <strong>the</strong> Consortium. "Energy Pause" instead <strong>of</strong> ""Break"was l<strong>is</strong>ted on <strong>the</strong> agenda. On Friday morning I was limited to a 10 minute time frame, Iput <strong>the</strong> HTP logo up on <strong>the</strong> overhead...Leaders in Energy Medicine. I honored DeborahLarimore CHTP/I <strong>with</strong> a heart to heart Namaste. She was present as instructor (HTI <strong>and</strong>Heart Math) from Wake Forest, N.C. ( I so w<strong>is</strong>h for <strong>the</strong> healing <strong>of</strong> instructors in ourcommunity ). Then I led <strong>the</strong> group in an experiential exerc<strong>is</strong>e for self care explaining thatself care <strong>is</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> foundations for our work as <strong>Healing</strong> <strong>Touch</strong> Practitioners. Iexplained that for 20 years <strong>the</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ard curriculum <strong>of</strong> Janet Mentgen's HTP has beentaught as Nursing Continuing Education <strong>and</strong> that certification can occur after completion<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> course work. We <strong>all</strong> stood, centered, attuned <strong>and</strong> set an intention for <strong>the</strong> highestgood. I instructed <strong>the</strong> attendees to turn <strong>and</strong> gently rest <strong>the</strong>ir h<strong>and</strong>s on <strong>the</strong> person in front<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m. The energy was powerful as <strong>the</strong>se masters <strong>of</strong> Caring brought a new awarenessto <strong>the</strong>ir intentionality <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir heart center...<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir touch! Jean Watson loved it <strong>and</strong>commented on <strong>the</strong> intentional, conscious use <strong>of</strong> heart energy....A HOME RUN.”Grant Monies St. Mary‟s Hospital at Amsterdam announced <strong>the</strong> receipt <strong>of</strong> a grant for$18,120 from <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>astern New York Affiliate <strong>of</strong> Susan G. Komen for <strong>the</strong> Cure. Thefunds will be used to continue <strong>the</strong> <strong>Healing</strong> <strong>Touch</strong> Buddies Program through The Centerfor Complementary Therapies under <strong>the</strong> direction <strong>of</strong> S<strong>is</strong>ter Rita Jean DuBrey RN MSNHTCP/I. <strong>Healing</strong> <strong>Touch</strong> Buddies program provides HT to women in recovery from breastcancer free if charge. Participants in <strong>the</strong> program range from women <strong>with</strong> early diagnos<strong>is</strong>up to more than twenty years in recovery. A wonderful showing <strong>and</strong> it <strong>is</strong> anticipated that it willjust keep growing. Janna sent us a notice about her clinic <strong>and</strong> we included it in EnergyMagazine <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Community Newsletter. We are interested in helping promote o<strong>the</strong>rclinics <strong>and</strong> support groups. Send us a notice about <strong>the</strong> one in <strong>you</strong>r area.VA News Jesse Brown VA Hospital Pain Committee approved <strong>Healing</strong> <strong>Touch</strong> having apresence at <strong>the</strong>ir new five day a week interd<strong>is</strong>ciplinary pain clinic. Part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>requirement for participation <strong>is</strong> data collection <strong>and</strong> down <strong>the</strong> line <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> aresearch protocol to <strong>of</strong>fici<strong>all</strong>y measure <strong>the</strong> effects <strong>of</strong> <strong>Healing</strong> <strong>Touch</strong>.
