The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic AnatomyCyndi Dale‟s text, The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomywas studied by the HTP Curriculum Committee and all unanimously agreed thatit should be considered a highly recommended reference book for our studentsand instructors. If you haven‟t yet seen it, be sure to look it over and considerbuying it as a comprehensive, professional and artistic reference. It has almost500 pages of text with beautiful illustrations, up to date scientific information, chapters on chakrasystems from around the world, and well written information on the biofield, chakras andmeridians. Cyndi Dale will most likely be one of our keynote speakers at the 2010 HTPconference. Janna Moll and Franny Harcey have attended her workshops and given her greatreviews. Click here to see the Instructor Meeting Agenda.Healing Touch for Self Care TelecourseCongratulations to Barbara Starke RN, MSN, FNP-BC, (A)HN-BC, HTCP/I who did a beautifuljob teaching HTP‟s first instructor telecourse on May 21! This two hour course was taught to 23HTP instructors who actively participated with questions, comments and expressions ofgratitude. Barbara reviewed ideas of how to bring this new class to one‟s community or localhospital as a way to both introduce the basics of HT as well as to teach concepts of self care.Specific self-care tools included: use of affirmations, creating a colorful bridge drawing thatrelates to one‟s life and life aspirations, journaling, the power of listening and an introduction toJean Watson‟s Caring Theory. Healing Touch book and class for ChildrenKaren Daughtry HTCP and Darlene Nelson from Chicago have written an affordable children‟sbook titled My Healing Hands about the basics of the human energy system and HT. It is beingpublished through HTP and will be available from our HTP store this summer. Ginny Altmeyer,HTP student and education specialist on children has teamed up with me to write the instructormanual for a Children‟s Intro HT Class for 6-9 year olds, based on Darlene and Karen‟s book.We are very excited about this new offering through HTP and hope you can be part of this newprogram‟s inauguration at our HTP conference!Upcoming Healing Touch for Teens classJeannette Nienaber, HT Instructor from British Colombia has put together a fabulous introductionto HT course for teens, which she has piloted at a private boys‟ high school over the last fewyears. Jeannette is a newly retired science teacher who has a strong background inunderstanding the physics of HT. Jeannette will also be at conference and will introduce the teencourse to us, which we are working on to present to you as another option for teaching HT inyour communities and “paying forward” the work of HT to our younger generation.Level 2 Advancement TrainingLauri Pointer, lead Level 2 instructor for HTP is doing the next Level 2 training October 16-18 inFort Collins, CO. If you are a Level 1 instructor interested in teaching Level 2, please see theinstructor site under Certification/Advancement. Since last year, HTP has instituted IEPs(Individual Education Plans) for instructors who have a strong background in HT and adulteducation and who may therefore be ready to become an instructor or instructor of upper levelswithout following the traditional track. Cynthia Hutchison was able to attend the Canadian Conferencein Newfoundland at the end of April. There was a day-long instructor meeting at whichshe able to speak, and Lisa and Chris Gordon were able to attend via Skype video. It isamazing what is possible with modern day technology! I had numerous one-oneconversations with many instructors and practitioners from Canada, which was veryfruitful. The Canadians did a wonderful job putting together this conference. Kudos toMaxine Gladney, one of our new instructors, who was the chairperson of the conferencecommittee and who graciously hosted me in her home. (See June‟s issue of EnergyMagazine for a summary of this event).3

ColoradoState Association of Health Underwriters 2009 Symposium. Ten minuteHT sessions were offered and approximately 30 people received treatments. LauriPointer HTCP/I participated in an alternative health panel representing HT with anAcupuncturist, a Chiropractor and a Hypnotist. Lauri‟s presentation was well receivedand most of the panel questions received were about energy medicine and HT.International Caritas Consortium – from Tina Devoe RN, HTCP/I“I enjoyed the consortium and had many opportunities to share HT. The host, Roper, StFrancis (Bon Secours Healthcare) supplied HTP with a healing room with 2 tables. Wehad space to display the Wound Healing posters, and Walle Adams Gerdt‟s DupontHospital poster. Janet Neal arranged for HT volunteers to "Do the Work". We did notkeep count but we treated so many nurses and even the Magnolia Singers( they werethe opening act (Gospel singers) for the Consortium. "Energy Pause" instead of ""Break"was listed on the agenda. On Friday morning I was limited to a 10 minute time frame, Iput the HTP logo up on the overhead...Leaders in Energy Medicine. I honored DeborahLarimore CHTP/I with a heart to heart Namaste. She was present as instructor (HTI andHeart Math) from Wake Forest, N.C. ( I so wish for the healing of instructors in ourcommunity ). Then I led the group in an experiential exercise for self care explaining thatself care is one of the foundations for our work as Healing Touch Practitioners. Iexplained that for 20 years the standard curriculum of Janet Mentgen's HTP has beentaught as Nursing Continuing Education and that certification can occur after completionof the course work. We all stood, centered, attuned and set an intention for the highestgood. I instructed the attendees to turn and gently rest their hands on the person in frontof them. The energy was powerful as these masters of Caring brought a new awarenessto their intentionality and their heart center...and their touch! Jean Watson loved it andcommented on the intentional, conscious use of heart energy....A HOME RUN.”Grant Monies St. Mary‟s Hospital at Amsterdam announced the receipt of a grant for$18,120 from the Northeastern New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Thefunds will be used to continue the Healing Touch Buddies Program through The Centerfor Complementary Therapies under the direction of Sister Rita Jean DuBrey RN MSNHTCP/I. Healing Touch Buddies program provides HT to women in recovery from breastcancer free if charge. Participants in the program range from women with early diagnosisup to more than twenty years in recovery. See June Energy Magazine and last month‟sHT Community Newsletter for the photo and blurb.New Clinic in Denver Janna Moll‟s newly sponsored clinic in the Denver areahad 13 participants the first evening. A wonderful showing and it is anticipated that it willjust keep growing. Janna sent us a notice about her clinic and we included it in EnergyMagazine and the Community Newsletter. We are interested in helping promote otherclinics and support groups. Send us a notice about the one in your area.VA News Jesse Brown VA Hospital Pain Committee approved Healing Touch having apresence at their new five day a week interdisciplinary pain clinic. Part of therequirement for participation is data collection and down the line the development of aresearch protocol to officially measure the effects of Healing Touch. Lynne O‟Donnell,and others, has worked very hard to bring HT into Jesse Brown. Thanks for all yourefforts!4

HT Presentations Diane Hoefener, an HTP, was invited by Hospice Atlanta, where sheis employed, to present HT at their staff retreat. Her one hour presentation was followedby two and a half hours of 20 minute HT sessions by Diane and four other practitioners.They were able to work with most of the 30 participants at the retreat. “The event was atremendous success and the feedback extraordinary!...so much so that the companyexecutive director took me aside after my presentation stating she „wants to pay me todo this at Hospice Atlanta‟, in both their hospice and palliative care programs. YEAH!!”So many exciting developments! So many are out their doing the work!
