You canuse either color or black <strong>and</strong> white.Assignment #2 – National Gallery of Art project 18 x 24”Media is your choice (paper <strong>and</strong> pencil, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, etc.)We live close to one of the best art museums in the world <strong>and</strong> it’s FREE! Your assignment is to go there <strong>and</strong>pick an artwork to study. Take your time to walk around the galleries <strong>and</strong> choose a piece you want to spendsome time with. Take your sketchbook <strong>and</strong> sketch your chosen work on‐site in the gallery. No one will botheryou; the gallery welcomes this. You’re going to take your sketch home <strong>and</strong> create your own work based onwhat you learned about the style <strong>and</strong> content of the piece. Pay closeattention to how you feel about the place <strong>and</strong> if there’s a mood you want to convey.8. Draw <strong>and</strong> shade your room using the principles of perspective. Use a viewfinder to establish aninteresting composition. You do not have to include the whole room. It could be a close‐up of an areaof the room.5
