6 HILLCREST IN-DEPTHCATHE JACKSONPRESCHOOL DIRECTORPreschool/Kindergarten PlaygroundOver the past couple of years, the preschool department has had a wish list for our preschool/kindergartenplayground posted on the preschool hallway wall. We are always looking for new and excitingthings to bring to the playground for learning and exploring. With the help of some amazing donors,we have been able to purchase water blocks, a pie garden, water and sand table, new bikes, a carwash, parachutes, a balance beam, a new basketball hoop that is for multi-levels, and an awesome rock wall!Just like our classrooms, our playground has an academic agenda. Every two weeks the preschoolteachers use their creativity to set up different dramatic play centers on the yard. This month we havethe block area set up for Christmas caroling with a stereo, stage, and chairs (just in case anyone wantsto sit and watch). The big play house is an elves’ workshop complete with a pretend conveyer belt toplace gifts (blocks) and wrap them up. The yellow tables are all set up for making Christmas cards andmailing them at the post office with our handy mail box.Next month our playground will transform into a winter wonderland. Come by and see howmuch fun we have learning outside as well as in.Our vision is big for the preschool, and we believe that we can achieve it with your help. Thank youto the Gilmour and Richardson families and to all the other generous donors that have put time, energy, and money into making our playground a fun, learning environment.
