<strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong><strong>Job</strong> <strong>Title</strong>:Reporting to:Salary:Hours:the WorkingPeriod of notice:<strong>SCENIC</strong> <strong>ARTIST</strong>Head of Scenic Artper letter of agreementas required, but no less than 39 hours per week and withinTime Regulationsfour weeks--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Primary Objectives• To assist the Head of Scenic Art in the operation of the scenic art department andall its functionsMain Duties• To work as instructed and supervised by the Head of Scenic Art.• To assist in maintaining the highest artistic standard in the Scenic Department• To work on all Queen’s Theatre productions, painting and texturing scenery, andemploying other scenic decorations as required, and to assist in the making ofproperties as required• To assist in controlling and maintaining the department’s paint & material stocks,and tools• To work on all fit ups for in-house productions, and get outs as required.• To work within the workshop, stage and surrounding areas to the best workingpractices in terms of safety and quality, and ensure that all equipment is usedcorrectly and safely, and in safe working order at all times.• To ensure that the Theatre’s Health & Safety Policy is complied with at all times• To ensure that all theatre work, and freelance contractors comply with Health &Safety requirements at all times• To assist the Head of Scenic Art in organising the work of freelance contractors,and casual staff• To assist in maintaining good communications throughout the department, andwith other departments, and to take an active part in Production and othermeetings as required• To maintain up to date knowledge of current and new equipment and practices• To co-operate with other production departments as required on all projects


• To provide support and help to ensure the technicalneeds of Education Department are met• To assist in overseeing the work program of work experience students in theworkshop area• To implement the Queen’s customer care program whenever in contact withhirers, promoters and members of the public• To assist whenever possible in carrying out the decorative maintenance of thebuilding.• To carry out from time to time, any other duties which may be reasonablyrequested by the Head of Scenic Art, the Production Manager, or the seniormanagement team.
