Schiphol train station islocated directly underneath the airport. From here, intercitiesand regular trains of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways-NS)can take you to Amsterdam Central Station, AmsterdamZuid-WTC and Amsterdam RAI. Train tickets areavailable at the ticket office in the airport’s main hall andyellow ticket machines. The Connexxion shuttle bus, somehotel shuttle busses, as well as Connexxion bus 197 will takeyou to the centre of Amsterdam.Arrival by trainIf you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station (CS), you can takethe metro 51 or tram 4 to the RAI.If you arrive at the Amstel station, you can take the metro 51or the busses 62 or 65, which will take you to the RAI. FromAmsterdam Sloterdijk station, the best way to reach the RAIis with express tram 50. The Amsterdam RAI railway stationis 300 metres from the RAI and has direct connection withDuivendrecht, Amsterdam Amstel, Amsterdam Zuid andSchiphol railway stations, which are linked to the internationalInterCity network. Follow the signs Amsterdam RAI when youleave the station.Public Transportation and MetroAmsterdam boasts an impressive public transport networkincluding metros, buses, trams, ferries and trains to help youget around the capital. Trams are common in Amsterdam, withroutes heading out from the centre in all directions. Trams areideal for short journeys around the city centre, as well as fortravelling to other districts. Amsterdam’s metro runs underneaththe centre from Central Station to the outer districts. Amsterdamoperates a full bus network, which will take you anywhere youhave to go. Behind Central Station, ferries hustle their wayacross the River IJ, transporting passengers to various locationsin the north of Amsterdam. Some specialist ferries alsotravel along the river to other districts of the city.12

General InformationTaxisTaxis can be called, hailed on the street or found at one ofmore than 50 official taxi ranks located around the city. Pleasenote that not all taxis accept credit cards. The ranks, identifiableby blue boards, can be found near to tourist spots suchas the Dam, Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein. Space in thecity centre is limited; taxis cannot stop anywhere they like.Car ParkAmsterdam RAI offers parking, which is situated directlyalongside the A10 motorway (S109 exit). It has the space toaccommodate around 2,300 vehicles. The parking fee is notincluded in the registration fee and costs EUR 15,50 per day.ClimateAmsterdam’s climate is mild. In December, the average temperatureis 4°C during the day. Fluctuation between day andnight temperatures is about 3°C. Rain/snow is possible.Insurance / LiabilityThe ESSM Congress 2012 does not accept any liability fordamages and/or losses of any kind which may be incurredby the congress participants or by any person accompanyingthem, during either the official activities or excursions. Delegatesparticipate in all tours/events at their own risk. Participantsare advised to take out insurance against loss, accidentsor damage that could be incurred during the congress.Bank and ATMBanks are open weekdays only, between 9:00 and 16:00.Bank cards using the Cirrus and Maestro systems can beused at any of the ATM machines in Amsterdam. If you needcash on your arrival in Amsterdam there are lots of ATM machinesin Schiphol airport and at Central Station. Most shopsand restaurants in Amsterdam accept credit cards, but notall. It is therefore recommended to either ask before you orderor ensure you have a sufficient amount in cash to cover thebill. Most shops and restaurants do not accept EUR 200 –EUR 500 notes.CurrencyThe currency in The Netherlands is the EURO.ElectricityThe voltage in the Netherlands is 230 Volts, 50 Hertz. Socketsmeet European regulations and use the two-round pin system.RecordingCameras, video cameras or audio recording devices are notpermitted in the session rooms. Any recording of sessions isstrictly forbidden.SmokingAmsterdam RAI is a non-smoking venue. Smoking is prohibitedwithin the congress venue.SafetyAs in all major cities and congress venues, people should takecare of their personal belongings. It is not advised to (visibly)wear your badge outside the ESSM congress activities andspecial events.13

Hereafter the poster presentations are groupedin male and female sexual health.Master LecturesEach 30 minutes lecture will be given by a distinguished andrenowned expert and will be devoted to a specific topic ofmajor interest.Round TablesThese sessions will usually last 60 to 90 minutes.
