General InformationTaxisTaxis can be called, hailed on <strong>the</strong> street or found at one ofmore than 50 official taxi ranks located around <strong>the</strong> city. Pleasenote that not all taxis accept credit cards. The ranks, identifiableby blue boards, can be found near to tourist spots suchas <strong>the</strong> Dam, Leidseple<strong>in</strong> and Rembrandtple<strong>in</strong>. Space <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>city centre is limited; taxis cannot stop anywhere <strong>the</strong>y like.Car ParkAmsterdam RAI offers park<strong>in</strong>g, which is situated directlyalongside <strong>the</strong> A10 motorway (S109 exit). It has <strong>the</strong> space toaccommodate around 2,300 vehicles. The park<strong>in</strong>g fee is not<strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> registration fee and costs EUR 15,50 per day.ClimateAmsterdam’s climate is mild. In December, <strong>the</strong> average temperatureis 4°C dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> day. Fluctuation between day andnight temperatures is about 3°C. The architect was Hendrick de Keyser.After de Keyser's death <strong>in</strong> 1621, his son Pieter deKeyser took over and oversaw <strong>the</strong> completion.The Noorderkerk has a symmetrical, cross-shapedlayout, reflect<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ideals of <strong>the</strong> Renaissance andprotestantism. It is <strong>in</strong>tended that from this 2011 on <strong>the</strong> <strong>ESSM</strong> TodayNewsletter will also be translated <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> most importantEuropean languages.• <strong>ESSM</strong> has supported <strong>the</strong> creation of <strong>the</strong> Multidiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary Jo<strong>in</strong>tCommittee on Sexual Medic<strong>in</strong>e (MJCSM) that is work<strong>in</strong>g under<strong>the</strong> auspices of <strong>the</strong> European Union of Medical Specialists(UEMS). MJCSM’s objectives are to study, promote and harmonize<strong>the</strong> highest level of Sexual Medic<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong> Europe – bothon <strong>the</strong> basic and postgraduate level. The MJCSM will determ<strong>in</strong>e<strong>the</strong> standards for tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and assessment <strong>in</strong> Sexual Medic<strong>in</strong>e.Successful candidates will be awarded on behalf of <strong>the</strong>MJCSM <strong>the</strong> title of “Fellow of European Committee on SexualMedic<strong>in</strong>e (FECSM).• S<strong>in</strong>ce 2007 <strong>ESSM</strong> has offered <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>ESSM</strong> members <strong>the</strong>participation <strong>in</strong> a two week structured course of <strong>the</strong> EuropeanSchool of Sexual Medic<strong>in</strong>e.
