projectsOverviewDuring 2011-12, five projects were brought to completion, and four furtherprojects that will continue into the next year, were partially implemented.Topics covered ranged from sexual and reproductive health to violenceprevention, advocacy, leadership, and human rights. A total of 141 educationsessions were conducted, making 2,045 participant contacts and a total of nineadvocacy workshops were conducted, reaching 132 women across Australia.Creating <strong>Health</strong>ier PathwaysFunded by the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, the Creating <strong>Health</strong>ierPathways Project built knowledge and awareness among female internationalstudents about sexual and reproductive health issues. Overall, the project reached400 students from 40 countries across the world, through 24 multilingualeducation sessions and five in<strong>for</strong>mation stalls at key student events. In addition,350 health resource kits containing condoms, lubricants, tampons andmultilingual health in<strong>for</strong>mation were distributed. Networks were developedwith six educational institutions, three student services and two local governments.Setting the CompassSetting the Compass was a national advocacy project that built the capacityof national women’s NGOs, and of immigrant and refugee women, toconduct targeted and in<strong>for</strong>med advocacy using the Points of Departure (POD)Advocacy Toolkit. A total of eight skills development workshops were conductedacross Australia; bilingual women were engaged through key organisations ineach state and territory, and a total of 122 women participated in the workshops.Funded through the Federal Office <strong>for</strong> Women, Setting the Compass has built theknowledge and capacity of immigrant and refugee women to conduct nationaladvocacy activities on their own behalf and on behalf of their communities.For more in<strong>for</strong>mation visit http://www.mcwh.com.au/healthprom/settingthecompass.php14
