Special Events1. Coordinated SDFD’s resources assigned to major special events in <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> whichincluded the Street Scene, Mardi Gras, and Rock ‘n Roll Marathon.2. Created detailed work plans for major city-wide events using Mircosoft projectmanagement software.Grants1. Applied for six new grants: <strong>FY</strong>04 <strong>Fire</strong>fighters Assistance Grant in the amount of $524,780,<strong>FY</strong>04 <strong>Fire</strong>fighters Assistance Grant specifically for fire prevention programs in the amountof $254,016, <strong>Fire</strong>man’s Heritage Program totaling $51,066, US&R at $942,835, IndianGaming Special Distribution Grant at $1.3 million, and Interoperable Command and ControlCommunications System in conjunction with SDPD and Sheriff Office totaling $8,242,210.Special Projects1. Five-Year Strategic Plan: One-year action plan placed in spreadsheet for integration intoSenior Staff initiatives. Strategic Plan rolled-out to workforce. Currently rolling-out to Cityleadership, then to elected officials, and community. Mission statements in facilities beingreplaced with new statements.2. <strong>Fire</strong> Accreditation: Working on self-assessment manual and risk assessment/standard ofcoverage. Submit Accreditation package/application in February 2005, and prepare for onsitepeer review team.3. <strong>Fire</strong>fighter Wellness Program: Developed program modeled after the nationalIAFF/IAFC Wellness initiative and obtained funding to implement it. Programtransferred to Training and must be completed by August 2005 to comply withgrant requirements.4. Employee Career Development Guide: Presented initial draft guide to senior staffand L145. Will need to develop work plan for completion, solicit support to assistin its completion, meet with other key stakeholders, and complete writing sections,narratives.MISC.1. Cedar <strong>Fire</strong> After Action <strong>Report</strong> was completed.2. Cedar <strong>Fire</strong> reimbursement claims submitted to FEMA and OES for a total of$2,262,292.00.3. Reimbursements claims submitted for Space Shuttle, Conventions and Hurricanesfor a total of $153,551.00.4. All fees were evaluated and revised if appropriate and new fees recommended tothe City Manager.45
