You will berequired to perform different breathingmanoeuvers, all of which involvebreathing in and out of a tube. Nopreparation is required.EXERCISE TESTING(30-45 minutes)There are various tests that measurea person’s exercise capacity. You maybe required to walk on a treadmill orride a stationary bike. Wear light,loose fitting clothing with comfortable,soft-soled shoes.ARTERIAL BLOOD GAS(15 minutes)Arterial blood gas is a specific bloodtest to determine gas exchange levelsthat are related to lung function. Nopreparation is required.METHACHOLINE CHALLENGETEST (45 minutes)Methacholine challenge testing is anon invasive test to assist in thediagnosis of asthma. You will berequired to breathe in a methacholinemist and a breathing test will beperformed before and after.
