Welcome to the ASU family and to University Housing. Arizona State University is committed to ensuring the academic and personal success of its students and as such, expects all fi rst-time freshmen to live in university designated housing on the campus where their academic major is located. University Housing recognizes that belonging to a smaller community within the larger university greatly contributes to easing your transition into the university environment. As an ASU resident, you will have more opportunities to connect to nearby academic resources and many special events tailored to your personal development and educational interests to help you make the most of your fi rst year as a Sun Devil. This brochure provides information regarding University Housing living and dining options, hall amenities and support services available to foster your academic success on all four of our ASU campuses. Review this information to fi nd the community most suited to your needs and interests and submit your living and dining preferences early. Our student housing is comprised of smaller residential communities and neighborhoods to foster and cultivate a closer sense of community. At the Tempe campus our residential communities are organized into neighborhoods that promote your academic and personal success. On the Tempe campus you have the option of living in the North Neighborhood, South Neighborhood, Center Neighborhood or within the Campus Apartment Village. On the West campus, you can be a community member at Las Casas apartments and at the Downtown Phoenix campus you can live in one of our newest residence halls, Taylor Place. At the Polytechnic campus there are single student residence halls and shared housing options. We also offer a family housing community at the Polytechnic campus. In addition to having residential communities and neighborhoods, there are residential colleges on each campus where you can choose to live within the same hall as people with your same major. All of this creates a sense of belonging and bridges the gap between in-classroom learning and out-ofclassroom experiences. Why Live On Campus? Studies show that students who live on campus for at least their fi rst year of study have signifi cantly higher retention rates, persist to graduation, and are involved at a higher rate in university life than students who live off campus. When you live on campus you can connect to and become fully engaged in the university community. As an ASU resident, you’ll have access to academic resources right where you live. From inhall study groups and success coaches to recreational sports and late-night programs, it’s easier for you to take full advantage of the resources available throughout the university when you live on campus. 2 3
