231The widest range on the marketItalvibras produces the widest range of electric vibratorson the market today. The development of our various product series isbased on an ongoing collaboration with the primarymanufacturers of vibrating machines and systems, with whom we have consolidated partnerships.Through the analysis and the solution of specific applicationproblems related to vibration, Italvibras hasdeveloped well-aimed product lines that, even withthe industrial standardization of the product, respondto an extremely broad spectrum of requirements.Partial view of machine tools departmentRobot processing line for shaftMechanical processing robot details123-4

231Automatic winding facilityWinding inspectionSemi-automatic bulk winding facility1-234-5These concrete advantages join with automatedmanufacturing processes to guarantee vibrators ofconsistent quality produced in appreciably reducedtimes with respect to the past.Alongside all this is the experience we have gainedfrom innumerable applications in every industrialsector, enabling the Italvibras technicians to acquiretop-of-the-line know-how.

45Vacuum and “drop by drop” trickle impregnationElectric vibrators normally operate under conditionsof particularly high mechanical stress that put all theircomponents to the test. One of the most heavily stressedcomponents is the electrical winding, in terms ofthe both the electrodynamic stresses induced by theelectromagnetic field and the mechanical vibrations.Italvibras has adopted two innovative and extremelyreliable systems for the impregnation of the windings, offering a total guarantee of product reliability: thevacuum encapsulation system for small size vibratorsand the “drop by drop” trickle impregnation system formedium and large size vibrators. These processes have shown to provide absolutelyexcellent insulation.10

MVSI-TSSplit coversThe MVSI-TS series, obtained directlyfrom the MVSI series, is characterized bythe split weight covers. The weight coveris divided into two halves that can beremoved in a radial direction. According torequirements it is possible to mount oneor two split weight covers. The MVSI-TS series is indispensable in thoseapplications where the position of thevibrator in the vibrating machine makesit difficult to axially remove the weightcover, while it has space to carry this out ina radial directionTechnical featuresPower supplyThree-phase voltage from 48V to 690V, 50Hzor 60Hz; suitable for use with an inverter from20Hz to the base frequency, with constanttorque load profile.Polarity4, 6 and 8 standard poles.Conformity with European DirectivesLow Voltage 73/23/CE; Electromagnetic Compatibility89/336/CE, ATEX 94/9/CEReference RegulationsEN 60034-1, EN 50081-1, EN 50081-2, EN 50082-1, EN 50082-2, IEC/EN 61241-0, IEC/EN 61241-1FunctioningContinual service (S1) at maximum declaredcentrifugal force and electric power. Intermittentservices are also possible dependingon the type of vibrator and the operatingconditions. For detailed information contactthe technical assistance office.Centrifugal forceRange extended up to 25000 Kgf. (245 KN),with force output adjustable from 0 to 100%.Mechanical protectionIP 66 according to IEC 529, EN 60529.Shock-proof protectionIK 08 according to IEC 68, EN 50102.Class of isolationClass F (155°C), class H (180°C) on requestTropicalizationStandard on all vibrators with “drop by drop”trickle system.Environmental temperatureFrom -30°C to +40°C, on request for higher orlower temperaturesVibrator heat protectionWith PTC rated thermistor heat detectors130°C (DIN 44081-44082) normal supply onsize 70, on request for smaller sizes. On request, thermistors with different temperaturesand anti-condensation heaters.Fixing of the vibratorIn all positions and therefore without restriction.LubricationAll vibrators are correctly lubricated in thefactory and do not require further lubricationif used in normal operating conditions. Inheavy duty operating conditions periodicalre-lubrication may be applied.Terminal boxLarge fixed electrical connections. Specialshaped terminals allow to fix the power supplycable, protecting it from loosening.Electric motorThree-phase asynchronous type. Designed formaximum starting torques and torque curvesspecific to vibrating machines. Isolated windingsusing the “drop by drop” trickle system withclass H resin for the lager sizes. The rotor is diecast aluminium.CasingIn ductile cast iron to have high strength andoptimal elasticity. Patented shape that improvesheat dispersion and lower normal workingtemperature at full load.Bearing flangeConstructed in ductile cast iron. The geometryof the flange transmits the load to the casinguniformly.BearingsCustom made with particular geometry, especially designed for Italvibras, suitable tosupport both high radial and axial loads.Motor shaftIn treated aluminium alloy (Isothermic hardening)resistant to stress.Eccentric weightsAllow continual adjustment of the centrifugalforce. This adjustment is realized by a graduatedscale, which expresses the centrifugal forceas a percentage of the maximum centrifugalforce.28

SOLUTIONS FORPREFABRICATIONElectronically controlled systemsThese are highly technological systems able to handle 6 to 72 electric vibrators, depending on theinstallation. A further extension allows the system to handle up to 864 electric vibrators.Housed in a special panel, the electronically controlled system is equipped with an interactiveterminal for compiling, filing and displaying the vibration formulas. The systems can also be remote controlled.A characterizing feature of the system is VIBRAVAR, the electronic vibration frequency converterand VIBRALOGIC, the PLC for computerized management of the vibration function. It can alsobe equipped with the VIBRATEL remote control, the VIBRALASER reflecting laser system and theVIBRAGEST administration software.CVF and electromechanically controlled systemsThese feature a powering panel containing the VIBRAVAR electronic frequency converter and varioussub-panels to control the vibrators and their vibrating frequency. The system’s powering panelcan handle up to 10 sub-panels, depending on the type. Each sub-panel, available with eithera socket or core-hitch type of output for connecting to the vibrator, controls from 4 to 10 electricvibrators. Each sub-panel has 7 fixed vibration frequencies and 1 variable one.The CFV board can directly power up to 11 electric vibrators (in this case the CVF can be accessorisedwith organs of protection and manoeuvre for the electric vibrators), or it can power up to10 sub-boards.MULTIVAR electromechanically controlled systemsMULTIVAR is the ideal means for replacing conventional electromechanical converters with fixedfrequencies, with a system that can vary the frequency / centrifugal force. It’s also an optimum choice for both manufacturers of small concrete items and precasting enterpriseswhen they need to produce specific items that cannot be obtained with normal forms.MULTIVAR comes complete with control and protection equipment, so it can therefore be connectedstraight to the electric vibrators.96

SELECTING THE ELECTRIC VIBRATORVibration systems and methodsThe systems that use the vibration technique can be divided into the following categories:• freely oscillating systems, which will be described in this guide• oscillating systems bound to resonance, which require specific in-depth research. Please contact the Technical Sales Service of Italvibrasif these systems are required. The free oscillation system includes two different methods:• rotational: the vibrating force is directed in all directions through 360° in a rotational way, either clockwise or anticlockwise.• unidirectional: the vibrating force is directed in one single direction in fade-free sinoidal reciprocating mode. The “rotational” method is obtained by using a single electric vibrator. The “unidirectional” method is obtained by using two electric vibrators with the same electro-mechanical characteristics, each turningin the opposite direction to the other.Rotational methodVibrating force directedin all directions through306°, in rotational mode.Unidirectional methodVibrating force in a singledirection, in sinusoidalreciprocating mode.Examples of how electric vibrators are used in different processesThe following examples illustrate a few typical uses:For conveyors, separators, sieves, sizing machines, unloaders, positioners, sorters, feeders andfluidized beds: unidirectionalmethod. For silos and hoppers:rotational method. For filters: rotational method. For vibrating beds: rotationalmethod. For compacting tables andtests (accelerated ageing, stress, ecc.): rotationalmethod. For compacting tables andtests (accelerated ageing, stress, ecc.): unidirectional orrotational method.98

Choice of the vibration method and rotation speed (and, thus, the vibration frequency)of the electric vibrator applied to the elastically insulated machine, dependingon the processThe choice of the vibration method and vibration frequency able to achieve the utmost efficiency for each type of process, depends onthe specific weight and granulometry (or piece size) of the material used in the process itself (consult the Table on page XX).Regardless of the selected vibration method, the electric vibrators can be mounted on the machine, elastically insulated with its axis ina horizontal or vertical position or, if necessary, in an intermediate position between the two directrices. The angle of incidence “i” (measured in degrees) of the line of force in relation to the horizontal plane should be taken into due considerationwhen electric vibrators are applied with the “unidirectional” method.Important: the line of force for any angle of incidence must pass through center of gravity “G” of the elastically insulated machine (seefigure below).Determination of the angle of incidence of the line of force depends on the type of process and must be within the indicated range.“i”da 6° a 12°da 25° a 30°da 31° a 45°da 45° a 80°Processes / Usesfor special separators (e.g.: the milling industry);for conveying, unloading, feeding, positioning and sorting;for sifting, grading and separating;for fluidized beds.Unidirectional methodThrustParticle of materialFlow of materialTrajectoryi = angle of incidence of the line offorce in relation to the horizontal planee = eccentricity (mm)App = peak-to-peak (mm) = 2 x eeApp“G”iTheoretic speed of theproduct V teoin m/h or cm/sRotational methodCorrected theoretic speed ofthe product V TEOcin m/h or cm/sFlow of materialV TEOc=V teo + V iFαV TEOc= corrected theoretic speed to take theslant of the machine into accountV TEO= Corrected theoretic of the productαEstablishedvalueValues calculatedaccording in αα = angle of inclination of machine in relation to horizontal planei = angle of incidence = 90 -αVi = speed of incidence (cm/s or m/h)Fα = corrective factor to calculate corrected theoretic speed V TEOCe = eccentricity (mm)Calculatedaccording to α(see table on right)α i Fα Vi10° 80° 0,81 8015° 75° 0,71 7520° 70° 0,60 7025° 65° 0,48 6535° 55° 0,25 5599

How to choose the right type of electric vibrator for use in typical processes(e.g.: conveying material)Use the Table on page (78) to select the vibration method and the required number of vibrations per minute depending onthe process and the granulometry of the material. Now move to the diagram (amongst those on pages 79 - 88) corresponding to the obtained number of vibrations per minute.Choose the corresponding curve on the diagram, for a previously calculated angle of incidence «i» of the line of force (consultthe descriptions on page 75).Using that diagram and that curve: eccentricity value «e» or peak-to-peak amplitude «App», measured in mm and required toobtain the previously mentioned theoretic product advancement speed value «V TEO» or «V TEOc» can be identified for a requiredtheoretic product advancement speed «V TEO» (m/h or cm/s) or «V TEOc» (m/h or cm/s) for tilted machines.«V TEO» is determined by the flow of material, taking a reduction coefficient into account (see conveyor channel example below).Given eccentricity value «e», it is possible to determine the value of the total static moment «Mt» (Kg.mm) of the electricvibrator or vibrators. This value is calculated by means of the following formula:Mt = e x Pvwhere: Pv = Pc + PowithPv = total weight of the vibrating complex (Kg);Pc = weight of the elastically isolated appliance (Kg);Po = weight of the installed electric vibrator (or vibrators) (Kg); hypothetic weight to be subsequently compared to that ofthe determined vibrator.Important: calculated moment Mt is the total moment of the electric vibrators. For example, if the vibrating machine hastwo electric vibrators, the calculated moment must be divided by two to obtain the static moment of each vibrator.Once the static moment of the vibrator has been calculated, consult the catalogue to determine the type of electric vibratorrequired.Checking the validity of the chosen electric vibratorHaving chosen the type of electric vibrator, centrifugal force value «Fc» (in Kg) of the vibrator itself can now be found in thecatalogue.FcUse formula a = (measured n times g)Pvto establish acceleration value «a» along the line of force. This value must be within the range indicated in the Table (onpage 78) for the required type of process.Attention: if the chosen vibration method is “unidirectional”, value «Fc» to use in the above mentioned formula willobviously be twice the value indicated in the catalogue as two electric vibrators are installed.Flow rate and speed of productConveyor channelQ = V px L x S V p= V teox K rLQ = flow rate (m 3 /h)V p= speed of product (m/h)L = channel width (m)S = layer of material (m)SV teo= theoretic speed of the product (m/h) (if channel is slanting, indicated V TEOc)K r= reduction factor depending on the type of product conveyed.A few values pertaining to this factor are indicated below.Leaf vegetables .......................................................... 0,70Gravel ............................................................................ 0,95Small pieces of coal ................................................... 0,80Large pieces of coal ................................................... 0,85Wooden shaving or PVC granules ............................ 0,75÷0,85Sand .................................................................................. 0,70Sugar ................................................................................ 0,85Salt .................................................................................... 0,95100

Mechanical insulation of the vibrating equipment from the bearing structuresizing the elastic systemsIf free oscillation systems are used, it is advisable to fit anti-vibration mounts (such as helical steel springs, rubber supports orpneumatic actuators) to allow the vibrating machine to freely move in all directions.Do not use connecting rods, leaf springs or flat springs, etc., for free oscillation systems. The non-vibrating element must be of adequate capacity, able to bear a weight equal to total weight «Pt» (i.e. the sum of theweights of the elastically insulated machine, or the electric vibrator or vibrators «Pv» and the material bearing on the machineitself «Ps») multiplied by the factor of safety, the value of which is between 2 and 2.5. Capacity «Q» of the elastic elementwill therefore be:Pv + PsK kg= x 2,5NWherePv = total weight of the vibrating complex (Kg)Ps = static weight of material on machine (Kg)N = number of anti-vibration mounts100r=5Diagram ACamber f (mm) of the elastic system1010r=3500 600 700 800 900 1000 1100 1200 1300 1400 1500 1600 1700 1800 3000 3600Electric vibrator rpm98,00Diagram B96,0094,0092,0090,00Percentage of insulation I%88,0086,0084,0082,003,0 3,2 3,4 3,6 3,8 4,0 4,2 4,4 4,6 4,8 5,0 5,2 5,4 5,6 5,8Resonance ratio r101

Now determine the camber «f.»of the elastic system by means of diagram A, depending on the vibration frequency (rpmof the electric vibrator) and considering a resonance ratio «r.» (between the vibration frequency of the vibrating complexand the frequency of the elastic system itself) between 3 and 5.The elastic constant of the anti-vibrating mount thus equals:K kg-mm=Pvf x Nwhere f = camber of the elastic system (mm)The capacity «Q kg» and the elastic constant «K kg-mm» are the two entities required to choose the anti-vibration mounts onthe market.It is absolutely essential to distribute the load of the vibrating complex evenly over the elastic system.Diagram B gives the percentage of elastic insulation (I%) between the vibrating structure and bearing structure, dependingon ratio «r».The anti-vibration mounts must be positioned so that the flexure is the same on all the elements, in order to balance themachine.Important: the bearing structure to which the anti-vibration mounts of the vibrating complex are fastened must berigidly anchored to the ground or to some other type of bearing structure and always without any further anti-vibrationelements.ConveyingSeparatingSievingPositioningGradingSizingExtractingFeedingType of processSpecificweightSiseRotat.VibratingforceGericht.600(50Hz)720(60Hz)750(50Hz)900(60Hz)Vibrations per minute1000(50Hz)1200(60Hz)1500(50Hz)1800(60Hz)3000(50Hz)3600(60Hz)6000(50Hz)9000(50Hz)- - nxgF • • • 4÷9A M • • • 4÷6G • • • 3.5÷4.5F • • 5÷7B M • • 4÷5.5G • • • 3.5÷5.5Filter cleaning A/B F • • • 2÷3Slackening and emptyingmaterial in silos, hoppers, etc.A/B F • •A/B M • • Note (1)A/B G • • •Fluidized beds • • • 2÷4Separators (eg. for mills), • • • 2÷4Vibrating bedsCompactingF • •M • • •G • • 0.7÷2F • •M • •G • •F • • • • •M • • • • • 2÷6G • • • • •Compacting concrete - - • • • • • 1÷2Test benches (acceleratedageing)Key: Specific weight A = high B = lowSize F = fine G = coarse M = medium- - • • • • • • • • • 0.5÷24Note (1): Centrifugal force of the electric vibrator = 0.1 ÷ 0.25 for weight of material cpntained in the vibrating apparatus conic part.Accelerat.on the lineof forcea102
