If you are interested in becoming an athletic trainer, <strong>Central</strong> <strong>College</strong> is an excellent choice. <strong>Central</strong>'s athletic training education program is accredited<br />

by the Commission on Accreditation <strong>of</strong> Athletic Training Education. The athletic training major <strong>of</strong>fers educational experiences in collaboration with<br />

faculty and healthcare pr<strong>of</strong>essionals, enabling you to master competencies and clinical pr<strong>of</strong>iciencies to become a pr<strong>of</strong>essional entry-level athletic<br />

trainer. Our athletic training program occurs within a liberal arts framework that expands your educational background and makes you a critical<br />

thinker. You will be enriched intellectually through interactions with staff, faculty, mentors and healthcare pr<strong>of</strong>essionals on campus and through local,<br />

state, national and international experiences.<br />

applications in sports medicine," says John Roslien, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> exercise science.<br />

"<strong>Central</strong> students have a unique balance between classroom concepts and real life situations when they graduate. They have marketable skills that<br />

facilitate their placement as graduate assistants in graduate programs in many disciplines, including physical therapy and athletic training," Roslien<br />

says. "Our students are in high demand by the most respected graduate programs. All <strong>of</strong> our students get in to the programs they choose."<br />

<strong>Central</strong>'s state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art exercise science building, built in 2010, features four technologically-equipped classrooms as well as an athletic<br />

<strong>Central</strong>'s state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art exercise science building, built in 2010, features four technologically-equipped classrooms as well as an athletic<br />

training classroom completely dedicated to the athletic training education program. The athletic training classroom features stools and tables<br />

instead <strong>of</strong> desks and also includes taping stations. The building also features two conference rooms, which are completely computer<br />

integrated, a hydrostatic underwater weighing tank, which is one <strong>of</strong> only three that exists in the Midwest, and is located in the human<br />

performance lab. The building also showcases LCD screens for teaching instead <strong>of</strong> projection screens and also features classroom capture,<br />

which enables all classes to be videotaped for review by students.<br />

The Ron Schipper Fitness Center opened in 1999 and features a 2,000-square-foot athletic training area.<br />
