programme for all young people aged 15

economy so that, even during the economic crisis, there has been persistently a large number 

of unfilled vacancies for ICT practitioners. 

At the same time, and while the unemployment rate has been rising in Europe, figures 

indicate that there is a low interest by young people in ICT jobs. 

How to explain this paradox?

European Job Day Brussels 2012 

The European Job Days (EJD) in Brussels this 6th October 

is a unique and innovative pan-European event spearheaded 

by the European Employment Services (EURES) 

network and the European Commission. 

If you’re considering finding a job, why not consider a 

change of scenery by working abroad and experiencing 

a different culture? This year, for the first time, the 

physical event is combined with a virtual one allowing 

EURES advisers, employers and jobseekers from across 

the EU and more to connect on line during the day, 

from wherever they are. 

As a visitor at the European Job Day (EJD) Brussels, you 

will benefit from a wealth of information and support 

aimed at improving your job prospects. As well as the opportunity for on-the-spot employer interviews, 

there will be advice on living and working in other European countries, company presentations from 

leading European employers, and panel discussions on EU initiatives aimed at increasing the mobility of 

young workers. This year's event is focusing in particular on ICT, healthcare or green economy jobs. 

With unemployment remaining very high in many countries, it is essential to support jobseekers to find 

suitable jobs and similarly to help employers to fill their vacancies with the best possible match. 

The European Job Day Brussels provides a key stepping stone to individuals to move ahead in the labour 

market.
