So Pierce is partnering thenew Velocity TM chassis with the Impel TM , a more price-consciousbase design with many of the advantages and options availableon the Velocity chassis. Impel begins with a base modelconfiguration, utilizing a medium-block engine to deliveroutstanding performance efficiency. The Impel includes defaulthalf doors, a conventional console configuration, round headlightbezels, optional chrome grille and a painted front end.As part of the new generation of chassis,Impel offers five key advances:More Interior SpaceMore headroom, legroom and floor space; simply more spaceoverall for firefighters to maneuver quickly and efficiently.Storage and Clutter ManagementIntegrated compartments keep books, manuals, radios and otheritems within easy reach, but out of the way. Hands-free SCBA holders and integrated sideair curtains are optional.Easier MaintenanceThe Impel gives quick and easy access through boththe engine tunnel and through its fast access service tilt fronthood - designed to encourage routine preventative maintenance,extending the life of the vehicle. It also includes Pierce'sexclusive tube-in-rubber transmission cooler, which is moredurable than conventional solutions and comes with a 3-year,$10,000 collateral damage warranty and 5-year cooler warranty.
