This is a profoundly innovativemethod as it is based on an interdisciplinary and comparativeapproach to labour relations, with close connectionswith the business world. This method is also characterisedby the high level of motivation and sense of belongingamong the faculty members, researchers, external collaboratorsand students (past, present and future) and thenumerous partners and supporters of the School.WHO WE AREAND HOW WE OPERATEThe Doctoral Research School in Labour Relations set up bythe University of Modena and Reggio Emilia together withthe Marco Biagi Foundation and Adapt is supported by aconsolidated network of relations and partnerships consistingof:• international cooperation agreements with various highereducation and research centres including the Universitiesof Budapest, Buenos Aires, Castellòn, UniversityCollege Dublin, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Lodz, MexicoCity, Middlesex, Montevideo, St. Petersburg, São Paulo,Tilburg, Warwick and the Wharton School of theUniversity of Pennsylvania;• links and exchanges with Italian and international businesseswith the active involvement of Adapt memberswho contribute to the School not only by funding researchgrants, but also by sharing the strategic goalsand the research and training objectives;• an international Teaching Faculty including eminentacademics of international standing, human resourcesmanagers, company directors, trade union officials andlabour market operators, with courses held in Englishand Italian.PARTNERSHIP AND FUNDINGThe School operates thanks to both public and private funding. The allocation of funding for a doctoral research studentmay be conditional on the implementation of a specifictraining or research project, with the doctoral researchstudent spending a number of months in the course of theyear with the sponsor of the research project.
