SMS-500 SPECTRAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMSHigh performance, low cost solution for spectral measurementSMS SYSTEM SOFTWAREOPERATING SOFTWAREEasy-to-use software, runs on Windows-XP® and is includedwith the base spectrometer. The software displays thespectral curve and instantly calculates the appropriatespectral and photopic units, as well as color informationsuch as CCT, CRI, dominant wavelength, purity and x, y, u’,v’. Manipulation and viewing of the spectral data is simpleand quick. The spectrometer connects to a computer via aUSB 2.0 port.MEASUREMENT FLEXIBILITYMeasurement heads are calibrated together with thefiber and spectrometer as a unit to generate appropriatecalibration files for measurements.SMS SPECTRAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMSThe SMS-500 features a stand-alone spectrometer with an optical fiber inputthat can be fitted with a variety of measurement heads to measure spectral flux, spectral irradiance or spectral radiance. The SMS Series includes model SMS-500for measurements over the wavelength region 360 to 1000 nm, model SMS-500E,which offers slightly higher resolution, measures over the region 300 to 1050 nmand the SMS-500-LL for low light level application. The spectrometer separates the light from an optical fiber into a spectrum, thensamples the light wavelength-by-wavelength and records the electrical signalproduced at each sample. The system software then calculates and displaysadditional quantities based upon one of the optional measurement heads, whichare calibrated to convert the electrical signal to one of four spectroradiometricquantities — μW/nm, μW/cm 2 -nm or μW/m 2 -sr-nm. Each system is deliveredfactory-calibrated with appropriate calibration files for the measurement headchosen.OPTIONAL COMPONENTSSMS-RMH – Radiance measurement head has a 100 mm(4 -inch) working distance from the lens surface and viewsa spot of approximately 1.0 mm diameter with an N.A. of0.125 (f 2 lens, 1-to-1 imaging, working F/# of f/4).SMS-IMH – Irradiance measurement head is designed toprovide measurement quantities of either flux/solid angleor flux/area. The measurement head is calibrated as aunit to provide irradiance measurements. Irradiance ismeasured with a detector that responds to the amount offlux striking the surface, regardless of angle of incidence. The irradiance detector is a diffuser that is viewed by thefiber. The diffuser, fiber and spectrometer are calibrated asa unit with a known source of spectral radiance to generatea calibration file.FEATURES:Three base spectrometer models availableThree optional geometric measurement headsMeasure spectral flux, spectral irradiance or spectralradianceCalculates photopic and colorimetric parametersautomaticallyMeasurement heads have NIST traceable calibrationsEasy to use softwareAPPLICATIONS:Measure flux of directionalsourcesMeasure chromaticity of signallightsMeasure irradiance onsurfaces for botanical researchLuminance and radiancecontrast of visual displaysSMS SPECTROMETER BASED LIGHT MEASUREMENT SYSTEMLabsphere, Inc. • 231 Shaker St. • North Sutton, NH 03260 • USA • Tel: +1 (603) 927-4266 • www.labsphere.comPB-13009-000
