chado (Tea Ceremony)Translated as the "Way of Tea", Chado, or<strong>Japanese</strong> tea ceremony, is an icon of traditional<strong>Japanese</strong> culture. The spirit of WaKei Sei Juku, (harmony, respect, purity andtranquility) are the basic principles underlyingChado. A tea ceremony brings togethermany important aspects of <strong>Japanese</strong> cultureand values including flower arrangement,calligraphy, poetry and the pursuitof harmonious interaction. In this class,students will learn the basic procedures formaking tea as well as how to integrate the spirit of tea into their study and daily lives.Necessary equipment include Fukusa, Kobukusa, yo-ji, kaishi(special paper used intea ceremony).
