START UP <strong>Funds</strong> for Temporary Organizations:InstructionsPurposeThe Office of Student Activities and Services (OSAS) offers <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong> totemporary student organizations that have submitted a 'Registration For New StudentOrganizations' form to our office. The <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong> are meant to assist these neworganizations to focus on building a strong organization in their first critical monthsinstead of worrying about financesSeeking support through <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong> is strictly optional.ParametersAmounts available:<strong>Up</strong> to Fifty Dollars ($50) is available for temporary organizations. This money is notavailable as cash. These funds are to help cover initial costs for officesupplies/services only.If there are supplies or services not offered by our office, then we may be able to workwith you to secure what you need.Stages of funding:The first stage for a temporary organization is to develop a constitution and submit thenecessary forms within thirty days. During this stage the organization is automaticallyeligible for Fifty ($50) Dollars worth of office supplies/services. If their constitution isapproved by the Committee on Student Organizations, and they submit all forms, thenthey become a newly recognized student organization.Term Limit:Temporary/new organizations may have access to <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong> within their firstsemester only.Money is dedicated in the budget for specific semesters. Funding will be given on afirst-come, first-served basis until the total <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong> budget available fortemporary/new organizations is exhausted.Procedurea. When organizations submit their 'Registration for New Student Organizations' form,they must indicate whether they plan to apply for <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Funds</strong>.b. If seeking financial support (anytime within the semester), they must fill out andsubmit a <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Request</strong> <strong>Form</strong>. c. Once the <strong>Start</strong> <strong>Up</strong> <strong>Request</strong> <strong>Form</strong> is submitted, the OSAS will check whether theorganization is eligible and how much money remains for them.d.
