ProfessorColeridge Smith has pioneered the introduction of ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy for the treatment ofvaricose veins into the UK and keeps series of over one thousand patients under review.Professor Harry GibbsProfessor Harry Gibbs is a graduate of the University of Sydney. He is currently the Director of the Departmentof Vascular Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and an Associate Professor of Medicineat the University of Queensland. He is a member of the ANZ Working party on the Prevention of VenousThromboembolism. His interests are in the non-invasive diagnosis and the management of disorders of thearterial, venous and lymphatic circulations.Dr Stephan GuggenbichlerDr. Guggenbichler is a German phlebologist who studied in Italy at Parma. He has organized severalEuropean consensus conferences on foam sclerotherapy together with Drs Franz Breu and Attilio Cavezzi. Heworks as a phlebologist and sclerotherapist in a German Italian medical centre in Munich. Dr. Guggenbichlerorganizes sclerotherapy courses for the German Society of Phlebology.Professor BB LeeProfessor Lee is Professor of Surgery of Georgetown University, Washington DC, serving as Director of Centerfor the Vein, Lymphatics, and Vascular malformation. He published over 500 original papers, abstracts, andbook chapters, mostly in the fi eld of vascular malformation and lymphedema, and also gave over 300 lecturesthroughout the world. Professor Lee is currently First Vice President of IUP and the chairman of the membershipcommittee of ISVS. He is also seving as a Director, American Board of Phlebology.Dr John KingsleyDr. John Kingsley is a vascular surgeon from Birmingham, Alabama. He is board certifi ed in both vascularsurgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He and his associates have performed over4000 endovenous procedures with numerous simultaneous adjunctive procedures. Dr. John Kingsley wasselected Chairman of the Board of Vein Associates of America, an American public company with the goal tocreate vein centers across the U.S. patterned after the Birmingham center.Dr Abdullah OmariDr Abdullah Omari is a Consultant Vascular Physician and Staff Specialist at St. Vincent’s General Hospital,Sydney. He has completed training in Vascular Medicine. Dr Omari‘s special interests include the managementof venous diseases (including deep vein thrombosis), arterial diseases, lymphoedema, vasculitis, wounds (andwound care) and peri-operative medical care. Dr Omari has completed a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound(Vascular Studies) and is qualifi ed in vascular ultrasound and non-invasive vascular testing.Professor Eberhard RabeProfessor Rabe is a well known dermatologist and phlebologist from Bonn, Germany. He is the president ofthe International Union of Phlebology and the President of the German Society of Phlebology. He has recentlycompleted a large epidemiological study of venous disease, known as the Bonn Vein Study.Professor Ken MyersProf Ken Myers has had a major interest in venous disease for more than 25 years. Professor Myers is theChancellor of the Australasian College of Phlebology and has participated in or organised many internationalPhlebology meetings. He has been at the forefront of developing new techniques such as echosclerotherapyand endovenous laser therapy.Professor André van RijAndré M van Rij is Professor of Surgery at the Dunedin School of Medicine University of Otago where hedirects the Vascular Research Unit. His research has focused on venous disease and the biology of varicose veinrecurrence and venous thrombosis.
