DUPONCHELIA ON CYCLAMENHOW TO RECOGNIZElarva damages adultLepidopter from piralides family.- The insect make all cycle in 6-8 weeks, so it can have several generations during thesummer and can give hard damages to the crops.- The butterfly is 9-11 mm hight, flies fastly a little over the leaves during the nights.- Each adult place till 200 eggs; the larva are creme – white and are till 3 cm long.DAMAGESThe insect is polyphagous and can attack several crops.- Nearby the vegetables crops, the damages can be more relevants because there theinsects can live there without big problems and domages.- On cyclamen can make serious damages because at the begin is it difficoult to be noticed.- The larva develops in the middle of young leaves and flowers and eat them very quickly:for this a symptom can be the lack of flowers in finisched plants.- In the worst case the larva can eats the heart of plants and there is any development ofthe plants.PREVIOUS FIGHT- Make complete clean of greenhouse and take away any weeds and waste.- Very usefull is to protect the greenhouses with nets agains insects or also shadow net thatprevent to the adult to enter.BIOLOGICAL FIGHT- First is important to check when first flight are beginnings.If you see the flight:-- Spray with Bacillus thurngiensis each 8-10 days against larva, take care to make wet allcrop because is a contact action and needs humidity to work.- Use also the spider predator Hypoaspis miles against eggs and larva.
