INTRODUCTION• Al-Quran has numerous injunctionsinstructing Muslims to choose and consumefood and drinks, <strong>Halal</strong> and Good (<strong>Halal</strong>anThoyyiba) and forbid haram items• Many Hadiths support verses from Al-Quranin regards to halal and haram matters<strong>Bahagian</strong> <strong>Hub</strong> <strong>Halal</strong>, <strong>JAKIM</strong>HALPHARM 201114-15 JUNE 2011


يَٰٓأَيَُٓا ٱنَُاصُ‏ كُهُٕاْ‏ يًَِا فِى ٱنۡأَرۡضِ‏ حَهَٰالً۬‏ طَّيِبً۬ا ‏َٔنَا جَحَبِعُٕاْ‏خُطَُٕٳتِ‏ ٱنّشَّيۡطٍَِٰ‏ ۚ إَُِّ‏ۥ نَكُىۡ‏ عَدٌُٔ۬‏ يُبِّيٌٍ‏“O ye people! حُزِيَثۡ‏ عَهَّيۡكُىُ‏ ٱنًَّۡيۡحَةُ‏ ‏َٔٱندَوُ‏ ‏َٔنَحۡىُ‏ ٱنۡخُِشِيزِ‏‏َٔيَآ‏ أُِْمَ‏ نِغَّيۡزِ‏ ٱنهَِّ‏ بِِّۦ“Forbidden unto you (for food) are carrion and blood and swineflesh,and that which hath been dedicated unto any other thanAllah…. “ (Al-Maidah 3)يَٰٓأَيُہَا ٱنَذِيٍَ‏ ءَايَُٕٓاْ‏ إًََِا ٱنۡخًَۡزُ‏ ‏َٔٱنًَّۡيۡظِزُ‏ ‏َٔٱنۡأََصَابُ‏‏َٔٱنۡأَسۡنَٰىُ‏ رِجۡضٌ۬‏ يٍِۡ‏ عًََمِ‏ ٱنّشَّيۡطٍَِٰ‏ فَٲجۡحَُِبُُِٕ‏ نَعَهَكُىۡ‏جُفۡهِحٌَُٕ‏“O ye who believe! عٍِ‏ انُعًاٌِ‏ بٍِ‏ بّشّيزٍ‏ رضِيَ‏ اهللُ‏ عًَُْٓا قالَ:‏طًعثُ‏ انُبيَ‏بّيٌٍِ,‏يقٕلُ":إٌَ‏ انحاللَ‏ بّيٌٍِ‏ ‏ٔإٌَ‏ انحزاوَ‏‏ٔبّيًَُٓا أيٕرٌ‏ يُّشْحبِٓاتٌ‏ ال يعهًٍَُٓ‏ كثّيزٌ‏يٍَِ‏ انُاصِ,‏‏ٔعزضِِّ‏فًٍَِ‏ اجَقىَ‏ انّشبٓاتِ‏ فقَدِ‏ اطحبزأَ‏ نديُِّ‏Bermaksud:Daripada Abi Abdillah Nu’man bin Basyir meriwayatkan bahawabeliau telah mendengar Rasulullah S.A.W said: “<strong>Halal</strong> is clearand Haram is clear; in between these two are certain things thatare shubhah (suspected). Many people may not know whetherthose items are <strong>Halal</strong> or Haram. NAJSNajs according to shariah law are:Animals or things that are themselves notpermissible such as pig (khinzir) and all itsderivatives, blood and carrion;that are contaminated with things that arenon-halal;that comes into direct contact with itemsthat are non-halal;<strong>Bahagian</strong> <strong>Hub</strong> <strong>Halal</strong>, <strong>JAKIM</strong>HALPHARM 201114-15 JUNE 2011

1. MughallazahMughallah is considered as severe Najs. They aredogs and pigs including any liquid and objectsdischarged from their orifices, descendants andderivatives.2. 3. MukhaffafahMukhaffafah is considered as light Najs. MALAYSIA FATWA ON MENINGGITIS VACCINEOn 20 - 22 April 2011 discussed the Legal Use ofMeningitis Vaccine Menveo. Muzakarah wasdecided as follows:1.
