Windworx
2012
The 2nd Windworx Fanfare took place
Saturday 19 May at Wynberg Boys High
School.
This Fanfare is a wonderful platform and
opportunity that has been set for all wind
bands to perform and to be evaluated on
their performance by experienced musicians/conductors.
Even the conductors of
each orchestra are evaluated and also
receive very good remarks and tips on how
to improve their conducting skills.
All our Wind Orchestras participated in this
year’s Fanfare and did exceptionally well.
We had to prepare two programmes, one a
formal performance that took place in the
main hall, and then an informal programme
that served as entertainment and created a
warm and welcoming atmosphere for the
audience who had to brave the cold weather
in the amphitheatre.
Although it being a first for the Beginner
Wind Orchestra, they still received two
highest honors diplomas for their performance!
Both the Junior and Concert Wind
Orchestras walked away with two Cum
Laude Diplomas. Well done to all of you!!
Except for the fact that it was freezing cold,
everybody had a great time and it was
heartwarming to see how many of our
youngest orchestra members, as well as
some of our adult members who stayed to
listen to the evening concert and joined in
with the massed bands.
Besides practicing hours on end, it also adds
to your development as a musician to attend
concerts and listen to good quality music.
It’s always the little sacrifice one makes
that eventually lead to big successes.
