314Környezettörténet 2Az ESEH legnagyobb közös eseménye a kétévenként a társaság által szervezettkonferencia, mely 2001-től kezdődően kerül megrendezésre. A 2009-benKoppenhágában és Malmöben lezajlott rendezvény pedig nemcsak az európai, hanema világ összes (így az Európán kívüli, pl. ausztrál, új-zélandi, afrikai, észak- és középamerikaiilletve ázsiai) környezettörténeti társaságának közös, nagy konferenciája isvolt egyben. A legutóbbi ESEH konferenciának 2011 nyarán pedig az akkori Európakulturális fővárosa, Turku adott otthont.A kétévenkénti konferencián kívül, elsősorban a fiatal generáció számára, atársaság évente szervez nyári egyetemet, minden évben más és más témakört részesítveelőnyben: az első ilyen rendezvénysorozat 2010 nyarán Versailles-ban, 2011-ben pedigVelencében került megrendezésre; a következő évben pedig előre láthatóanNorvégiában lesz nyári egyetem. A tematikus nyári egyetemeken való részvételrepályázni lehet/kell; pozitív válasz esetén viszont a szervező fél a résztvevőkköltségeinek nagy részét vagy egészét fedezi.Az ESEH MagyarországonAz ESEH magyar csoportja 2001-ben, a skóciai St. Andrew’s-ban alakult meghárom taggal. 2009-ig Rácz Lajos volt a területi képviselő, mely feladatot az évbenKiss Andrea vette át. Az ESEH-nek jelenleg 16 magyarországi tagja van, többféle,például történész, földrajzos/környezetkutató, tájépítész és régész végzettséggel,egyelőre elsősorban szegedi és budapesti egyetemekről. Szakterületüket tekintvetörténeti ökológia, környezet- és klímatörténet, dendrokronológia, tájtörténet, történetitájhasználat és tájmenedzsment, környezeti régészet, történeti környezetszennyezéstémakörök a leginkább jellemzők. A szakterületek listáját szeretnénk bővíteni (pl. anagy kutatói hagyományokkal rendelkező történeti néprajz irányába).A magyarországi tagok körlevelekben értesülnek a társaságot illetve a szakterületetérintő friss, a társaságon keresztül elérhető európai és hazai hírekről, továbbá különféleközérdekű információkról (konferenciák, ösztöndíjak, pályázati lehetőségek,közérdekű információk az ESEH bizottsági megbeszélésekről stb.). 2010. június 25-énSzegeden került megrendezésre a magyarországi ESEH tagok első találkozójára, minikonferenciájáraa tagok előadásai és kerekasztal-viták/megbeszélések formájában, melyévenkénti rendezvényt igény szerint rendszeressé szeretnénk tenni.Miért lehet fontos egy külön, magyarországi csoport, illetve annak részben önállótevékenysége? A magyar környezettörténeti kutatások jelentős része, különösen ami atörténeti szempontú feldolgozásokat illeti, elsősorban magyar nyelvű folyóiratokban,magyar nyelven kerülnek kiadásra. Ma még kevesen jelennek meg egyelőre például atémába vágó nemzetközi szakfolyóiratokban vagy szakirányú konferenciákon, ígypéldául a környezettörténeti társaság konferenciáján. Ennek köszönhetően aMagyarországon folyó több évtizedes, sokszor európai szintű kutatások szinte teljesenismeretlenek a nyugat, de döntően még a szomszéd országokban dolgozó

Claims made by EMSA• Classification societies had takenpractical positions on hydrostatictests based on successful experience.• European Maritime Safety Agency(EMSA) of EC recently exposednoncompliance of classificationsocieties (Recognized Organizationsof the governments) with SOLAS.The 4 th ASEF in Kyoto, 17-18 November 20106

Real problems• Hydrostatic testing mostly leads toserious damage to equipments,electric cables and/or coatings in“watertight compartments notintended to hold liquids” althoughthey are filled with fresh water.• It is a problem to save enormousamount of fresh water for tests.The 4 th ASEF in Kyoto, 17-18 November 20107

Tragedy followed by comedy• Some classification societies suddenlyrequired a lot of hydrostatic tests.• In order to avoid unrealistic tests,some classification societies andshipbuilders performed full-scalestress measurements of actual shipswith a view to demonstrating the firmreliability of modern structural designtechniques including 3D-FEA.The 4 th ASEF in Kyoto, 17-18 November 20108

New action taken by IACS• IACS, supported by Cook Islandsand Marshall Islands, proposeddraft amendments to SOLAS anddraft guidelines for “Procedures ofTesting Tanks and TightBoundaries” (MSC 86, June 2009).• MSC 86 decided to entrust thetask to DE.The 4 th ASEF in Kyoto, 17-18 November 201010
