WOOD DESCRIPTI<strong>ON</strong>Sapwood 4 to 8 cm. thick sharply mar~ed off from heartwood, which is russetto dark reddish brown; grain crossed; sometimes curly; texture moderately fine;glossy; no distinct taste or scent; heavy; strong and tough.Growth rings present, plainly visible to the naked eye, being delimited byrelativelidense concentric bands of woody tissues.
