G. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES1.2 EXTERIOR FINISH5. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for WHMIS compliance and enforcement as it relates to this <strong>scope</strong><strong>of</strong> <strong>work</strong>.1. The CONTRACTOR is responsible to familiarize himself with the site and point out any potential problemsbefore starting the job.2. The awarding <strong>of</strong> this Contract shall be based on the assurance that adequate, qualified manpower will beprovided to carry out this <strong>scope</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>work</strong>, and <strong>work</strong> will be commenced and completed as per the <strong>Project</strong>Schedule, as revised from time to time by the Construction Manager.3. The CONTRACTOR shall provide additional labour, including safety personnel, for overtime and Saturday<strong>work</strong> as required from time to time to comply with <strong>Project</strong> Schedule at no additional cost to the OWNER.4. The CONTRACTOR shall cooperate with other trades to ensure a smooth and safe flow <strong>of</strong> <strong>work</strong>. Provide aplan detailing sequencing <strong>of</strong> <strong>work</strong> to the CONSTRUCTION MANAGER.5. The CONTRACTOR shall provide a certified Trade Safety Coordinator as required by City <strong>of</strong> Vancouverbylaws and provide certification <strong>of</strong> qualification to the Construction Manager.6. The CONTRACTOR shall comply with all requirements for safety procedures, reports, and meetings inaccordance with applicable regulations, bylaws, and safety programs.7. The CONTRACTOR agrees that the OWNER is not responsible for fire, theft, loss and/or vandalism <strong>of</strong> any<strong>of</strong> the CONTRACTOR’s tools, equipment, materials, supplies and/or <strong>work</strong> in progress.1. The CONTRACTOR is to provide all materials, supervision, equipment, and labor to complete all <strong>exterior</strong> <strong>finish</strong>, withthe exception <strong>of</strong> the brick face, as per the Architectural plans (latest revisions) and in accordance with therequirements and assembly details <strong>of</strong> the envelope engineer.2. The CONTRACTOR shall carry out all <strong>work</strong> in accordance with all Architectural drawing details and under thedirection <strong>of</strong>, and to the satisfaction <strong>of</strong>, the OWNER’s building envelope engineer.3. The CONTRACTOR confirms that he is an expert in this field <strong>of</strong> <strong>work</strong> and is fully knowledgeable and experienced inall aspects <strong>of</strong> procedures, methods, regulations, codes and municipal requirements and the CONTRACTOR furtheracknowledges that the OWNER is relying on this expertise.4. The <strong>work</strong> shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to, the following:a. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply one <strong>of</strong> the following moisture barriers to the complete building includingall masonry areas: Tyvec Commercial Wrap, orTypar, or2 ply 30# lapped building paperb. The Contractor shall supply and install ½” x 1 ½” plywood pressure treated rain-screen strips at 12” and 16” O.C.,as noted on plans, to all areas except masonry areasc. The CONTRACTOR shall prep all openings including strore front units with paper, flashings and peal and stick all inaccordance with the details and direction <strong>of</strong> the building envelope engineer, ready for window and <strong>exterior</strong> doorinstallation by others.d. The CONTRACTOR shall review the building and plans to ensure that the positioning <strong>of</strong> all <strong>exterior</strong> electrical,ventilation or plumbing rough-ins do not conflict with <strong>exterior</strong> <strong>finish</strong>ing trims etc.


e. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply all Hardi panel siding materials as per the architectural drawings. Suchsiding is to be pre- primed..f. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply all trims in accordance with the architectural drawings with 26 gaugemetal flashings and rod & caulk to jambs.g. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and install 26 gauge flashings to top and bottom <strong>of</strong> brick openings with rod andcaulk to jambsh. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and install rod and caulk to all vertical joints between masonry and Hardi sidingi. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply Hardi panel, factory primed, to locations as per plans.j. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and install aluminum vented s<strong>of</strong>fits to all overhangs and balcony undersides as perthe architectural drawing details.k. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply deck wraps including factory primed materials as per plans.l. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and install all required flashings excluding ro<strong>of</strong> cap flashingsm. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and apply all required electrical outlet and <strong>exterior</strong> fixture trims.n. The CONTRACTOR shall install and trim-out all wall and/or s<strong>of</strong>fit vents, (supplied by others) during the <strong>exterior</strong><strong>finish</strong> installation.o. The CONTRACTOR shall take extreme care not to damage window, door frames or other items supplied by othersduring the installation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>exterior</strong> <strong>finish</strong>ing.p. The CONTRACTOR shall supply all required ladders, scaffold and/or man-lifts for the project.q. The CONTRACTOR shall supply and install flashings to brick face window openings in accordance with the CPMWindow Flashing Detail at Brick Face. (see specifications)
