We hope you willtake the opportunity to gainsome insight into our DESMAworld; situated as we are inAchim, surroun<strong>de</strong>d at this timeof year by gol<strong>de</strong>n fields, it wouldbe easy to sit back and let theworld go by. But as many of youknow, we are in the teeming portcity of Bremen with its busy internationalairport within 20minutes – and anyway, you, ourcustomers and partners are ourwindows on the world. And youhave continued to keep us verybusy this year, for which we againwould like to express our heartfeltthanks. We know that yourinvestment in our machinery, in<strong>de</strong>edin us, is the result of trustwhich we never take for granted.Our or<strong>de</strong>r books continue fulland we are already looking optimisticallytowards 2012.Our parent company SalzgitterAG took the chance earlier thisyear to take an opinion poll ofstaff members. Questions werewi<strong>de</strong>-ranging and employee participationhigher than expected.Company management valuesthe insights gained.We said goodbye to some very familiarfaces this year, includingLothar Oster. Lothar was a valuedmember of staff for many years,a popular colleague and goodfriend and partner to many customers.It’s a hard act to follow,but we are sure we have found theright person in Thomas Schwenteck,who already has years ofDESMA experience un<strong>de</strong>r hisbelt. DESMA CUSTOMERSAlpha Boots: Your feet in actionBeautiful PU boots produced in PortugalThe Portuguese companybased in Pombal, betweenLisbon and Porto, has beenproducing PVC Boots for Agriculture,Gar<strong>de</strong>ning, Hunting andFishing since 1996, increasingthe product range in 2004 withsafety boots with steel toecapand midsole, <strong>de</strong>signed for use inconstruction, food industry andother sectors that require safetyfootwear.
