Institutional Effectiveness, Research and AssessmentThe Offi ce of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Assessment (OIERA) provides leadershipand support in developing and managing the institutional assessment, data management/researchand planning processes. The OIERA provides feedback for progress in fulfi lling the mission andgoals of the university. It aggressively shapes the university’s higher education reputation by• promoting a culture of evidence,• ensuring adherence to best practices in evaluation and assessment,• advancing the systematic use of information for decision making,• monitoring the university’s regional and professional accreditation compliance,and• facilitating the achievement of the university’s strategic goals.Throughout the year the OIERA evaluates the university’s Strategic Plan goals and outcomes andprovides feedback to the Strategic Planning Council and the Chancellors Administrative Council.In addition, the OIERA plays an integral role in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS) reaffi rmation review of ECSU with respect to assessment and institutional researchsupport.Fall 2011 enrollment included 2837 undergraduates – 88 percent of them North Carolinaresidents. Of 93 graduate students, 97 percent were residents of North Carolina.11
