The motion passed by the following roll call vote: Mr. Bentine-aye; Dr. Smallaye;Dr. Koncal- aye; Dr. Burt- aye; Dr. Redman-aye; Ms. Jessen- aye.There was no president’s report.Mr. Bentine reported that he had attended the meeting of a dog club and that therewas a massage therapist speaking to the meeting.Dr. Knapp reported that HB 458 is awaiting the Governors signature and that asigning ceremony will be held on July 11 at 2 p.m. Dr. Knapp also said that the OVMAwas working on the puppy mill legislation and thought that issues involving veterinarianshad been resolved.Heather Hissom, Executive Secretary, reported that the directives from the lastboard meeting had been completed. Ms. Hissomstated that the rules committee will meet after the July board meeting to discuss newrules and changes to old rules needed resulting from the legislation. Ms. Hissom alsostated that OPEP reports were received for Dr. Frizzell and Dr. Ochterski. Ms.Hissom stated that she received an announcement for the Kent State Universityveterinary technology program. The announcement states that students may begin towork after graduation, however, the program is unaccredited. Mr. Bentine moved tosend a letter to KSU informing them of the laws for registered veterinary techniciansin Ohio. Dr. Koncal seconded the motion. Ms. Hissom stated that it is time to plan for the nextbiennial budget. The board’s budget is due by the beginning of October. Ms. Hissomstated that the board is capped at its FY 07 or current year budget. Appeals can befiled by the beginning of August if an adjustment should be made. Ms. Hissom statedthat she would like to file an appeal as the board would like to begin on-line renewalsduring the new biennium. Because the board must absorb any costs associated withthe on-line process (i.e. credit card processing fees) an increase in the board’s budgetwill be necessary. Mr. Bentine moved to authorize Ms. Hissom to file an appeallisting the expenses anticipated. Dr. Burt seconded the motion.
