Model Design by Ron CaudilloAssemble the cab and attach the spare tirewell and service box pieces to it.Assemble the frame top by folding andjoining the small tabs at the decking.Fold up the frame bottom.Join the frame top to the bottom. Join thecab assembly onto the frame assembly.Ron Caudillo in the cab of a M.A.N.Tractor in the Spring of 1989.Page 4Make the auxiliary equipmentassembly by joining the auxiliaryequipment, top of auxiliary equipment,and air cleaner pieces together. Glueto the frame assembly just behindthe cab.Make the spare tire assembly and glueit to the frame the auxiliaryequipment assembly in the markedareas. Note that the spare tireassembly is not glued to the cab sparetire well.Assemble the camouflage box and glueit to the frame just behind theauxiliary equipment.Make the 5th wheel assembly and glueit to th e frame towards the rear.Assemble the fuel tank and storage box.Glue them to the frame into the markedareas. Make sure the small white tabsthat stick up goes under the framedecking.Make 2 tire assemblies and join them withan axle. Assemble a suspension piece andglue it under the cab. Glue the tire/axleassembly into the suspension and verifythat the model sits straight on a flatsurface. Adjust this by either raising orlowering one side of the axle/tire assemblyin the slot of the suspension. Repeat atthe rear of the model, making sure all 4tires sit flat on a smooth surface. Let themodel dry for awhile and attach the last 2suspensions to the middle marked areas.Glue the last 2 tire/axle assemblies intoplace. Ensure all 8 tires sit flat on asmooth surface.The M.A.N <strong>tractor</strong> was a design built bythe Maschinenfabrik Augsberg-Nurnbergcompany in Germany to support the USAFGround-Launched Cruise missile program.It towed either 4 Gryphon cruise missilehoused in the Transporter-ErectorLauncher (TEL) or 2 launch controlofficers housed in the Launch ControlCenter (LCC).This 8-wheel drive <strong>tractor</strong> was theultimate off-road vehicle with the 2 frontaxles being steerable to provide excellentmaneuverability.The V-24 diesel engine gave the M.A.N.trac tor awesome power and it’s crewsbecame attached to them just like thebomber crews of World War II to theirairplanes; often naming their <strong>tractor</strong>s,LEGENDCut lineFold up lineFold down lineDetail line(do NOT <strong>cut</strong>)
