This way, theycould complete their studies in December, and would not have to be registered full-time and paythe corresponding tuition fees for the Winter term.

Time guidelines for MA and PhD students in MLCS and their supervisors4Note 2: The spring/summer are an integral part of the students’ length of study, and thepurpose of this list of basic readings is to help them take advantage of the time when they haveno courses to prepare for their candidacy exams.a) In disciplines / areas where there are master reading lists for candidacy exams, studentsreceive a list of readings that would figure on their own candidacy reading lists. At this point, thecandidacy reading lists may not be complete yet.b) In disciplines / areas where there are no master reading lists for candidacy exams and wherestudents normally prepare their own reading lists, the supervisory committee makes sure thatthe student, with the help of the supervisory committee, has a list of basic readings that will helpwith the preparation of the thesis proposal.
