Story behind:Right from the beginning it was clear to me: The
white elephant skin should not be degraded into a mere
exchangeable canvas, huge animal´s body just turned an
advertising pillar with pictures on it. Instead by painting that
impressive animal enter symbiosis its design. And so from work
session to my elephant developed more and into a self-willed
being, whose massive rounded shapes delicate bends directed
the lines of painting. A strong ornamental design was result that
covers elephant´s sculpture in contrasting colours so form itself
recedes into background. For example realistic eyes are hidden
behind an oversized orange coloured dot. The distinctive forms
develop a dynamic of own. Looking at elephant face to design
resembles kind mimicry, misleading eye beholder. Have good
look – you´ll see more than an elephant´s only...
Ina Jenzelewski (*1960, Hamm/Germany). Interwoven like a red
threat are the basic themes “organism” and “structure” within the
whole works of the artist. A guiding role has the confrontation of
different techniques and materials. From initially fantastically
realistic pencil drawings her art reaches from watercolours of
plants and landscape-painting to experimental mixing
techniques using oily chalks, gouache and acrylic paints to
delicate transparent objects made from cellulose and wallpaper
paste. For some years now the artist has been experimenting
with digital art. Throw away items conserved by scanning are
interpreted and so to say recycled virtually or even upgraded.
Furthermore highly expressive illustrations are created by
computerized means only.

Story behind:The pharao cannot be described in words – It´s
purely sensational!The inspiration for the elephant´s design and
title “Pharao” came from the exhibition on Egypt with the same
name that took place at the Gustav-Luebcke-Museum in Hamm,
where many works of art from Egypt have been assembled over
the years.
Dusan Jovanovic was born in 1944 in former yugoslavia and
has been living in Hamm/Germany since 1970. Almost as long
(since 1972) he has been teaching at the local school for adult
education. The freelance artist works in the fields of painting,
graphic design and sculpture.
