TRAFFIC FLOWPre-Race• Fans who wish to park on the front side of the speedway should travel I-85 toExit 49. During peak traffic, I-85 may be forced to exit at Exit 43, 48, 52 or 58,each of which is routed to Highway 29 on the front side of the speedway.• Fans who wish to park on the back side of the <strong>Charlotte</strong> <strong>Motor</strong> <strong>Speedway</strong> shouldtravel on NC 49 to Harrisburg, to Morehead Road turning East, or US Highway29 to Morehead Road turning west. They will then be directed to the closestparking available.• Fans can also gain access to Highway 29 from I-485.Post-Race• The Department of Transportation will counter flow traffic on the roadssurrounding the speedway (Highway 29, Morehead Road, Bruton SmithBoulevard, etc) to facilitate a faster and more efficient traffic flow (traveling toand leaving the speedway). Additional lanes will be dedicated in the directionneeded, or all lands will be converted to one way in the direction needed astraffic dictates• US Highway 29 (front of speedway) will be counter flowed to 3 lanes in onedirection and 1 lane in the lesser direction both before and after the race.• Bruton Smith Blvd., from I-85 to US Highway 29, will be counter flowed to 3lanes in one direction and 1 lane in the lesser direction both before and afterthe race.• Morehead Road, from Harrisburg to Entrance P on speedway property, will becounter flowed to all lanes in one direction both before and after the race.Morehead Road west, from US Highway 29 to Mallard Creek Road/MallardCreek Church Road, will be counter flowed to all lanes in one direction afterthe race.Transportation ServicesLook for the designated golf carts, offering you transportation to and from parkingareas and admission gates. The golf carts are staffed by local volunteers whoknow their way around CMS and are ready to help all race fans, especially theelderly and physically challenged fans, and families with children.\Bus ShuttlesThe speedway operates 3 types of bus shuttle services on CMS property:• Morehead Farms, Peninsula Camping and Rock City Campgrounds to and fromthe shower houses, ticket office, and souvenir row area from 8AM-12 noonstarting on the Monday of race week.• Morehead Farms, Peninsula Camping and Rock City Campgrounds to and fromthe track from 12 noon – 12 midnight on race and pole days.• Morehead Farms, Peninsula Camping and Rock City Campgrounds to and fromThe Dirt Track during race weeks 2 hours before the event and 2 hours afterthe event.Tram ServiceA number of tram stops are located throughout the facility including Gates 2, 3,4, 7/8, 18, 26 and 30/31, and tram service runs in a clockwise direction on theperimeter road between these stop-off points. These trams operate on race andqualifying days from 12 noon until the start of the race or qualifying.Please note: The trams do not run after the race.
