WoodstovesGas Stoves

A passion for both tradition and changeOur new catalogue brings to you,as always, the latest in ourcollection. You will discover theproducts that have alreadycontributed to the success ofour company for years, as wellas the significant introductionof new products. Diversity andindividuality are some of themost important qualities of ourtime. Never has the range of stylesbeen so vast. Never has thequestion of personal preferencebeen so open.Wood burning is CO 2neutral bioenergyWe think it important to focus onhow each individual can contributein taking care of our planet’sresources. Wood burning is analternative heating method thatsaves both the household budgetand the environment. Burning inthe stove the wood logs producethe same amount CO2 as the treehas absorbed from the air duringits existence. Further, it is good toknow that when the tree is felled itgives room for a new plant, and theprocess can be repeated. Hence, weutilize a renewable and sustainableenergy source without destroyingit, and without increasing theconcentration of CO2 inthe atmosphere.SustainabilityFortunately for our customersthrough many years, Jøtul’s environmentalfocus has been strongfrom the late 1980’s.We believe that sustainability isimportant through the whole lifecycle of our products. You can readabout our warmth philosophyin this brochure, and much moreabout our production andproducts on www.jotul.com.Going forward, we promise tocontinue our focus on innovation, forward thinking, and above all thedesire to connect our stoves andfireplaces with the people who usethem, so our company and productsstay with the times.Design awardsOur efforts have been rewardedseveral times with design awards inseveral countries. Amongst others2is the coveted title “red dot: best ofthe best” for the Jøtul F 373.It is of course wonderful toreceive top-class recognition, but we cannot rest on our laurels. At the end of the day, there isnothing more important to Jøtulthan leaving the people whopurchase our products with a verydefinite feeling; that of havingbought exactly the right piece. To us, there is nothing moreimportant than this. So, now, I invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy our catalogue– then close your eyes and dreamof what a Jøtul product will doto your home!… in the spirit of our time, and in the spirit of Jøtul.Erik Moe, President & CEO

Gas Vent GuidelinesDirect Vent SystemsA direct vent gas appliance is a closed combustion system that takes itscombustion air from outside the home. The system uses either a co-axial pipe(a pipe within a pipe) or a co-linear system to both take air in for combustion andexhaust products of combustion.Co-axial VentA co-axial vent consists of a smaller pipe within a larger pipe, most commonlya 4-inch pipe inside a 6 5/8 inch pipe. This type of venting pipe is used whenthe venting runs horizontally and passes through an outside wall, or verticallyto penetrate the roof. A specific termination cap is used that separates exhaustgases from the incoming combustion air.Co-linear VentA co-linear venting system is used for direct vent gas fireplace inserts andfreestanding gas stoves when installed in front of existing masonry fireplaces. This venting system consists of two 3-inch flexible liners that are run up amasonry chimney. One liner is used for the air intake and the other for exhaust. The liners are attached to adapters on the unit, run up the flue and thenconnect to a c0-linear adapter on the top of the chimney, to which the directvent cap is secured. When used with a freestanding stove, a co-linear adapteris also attached to the stove to convert the co-axial pipe to the co-linearventing system.B-Vent SystemsA B-vent or natural draft system is often vented into a masonry or class Achimney system. Stoves using this type of venting use room air for combustionand exhaust the products of combustion into a chimney. When using a masonrychimney, a 4-inch aluminum gas liner must be installed.18
