Joseph’s <strong>Academy</strong> students, alongwith faculty and staff members, donated405 gowns and dresses to The Cinder- that provides garments free of charge toless-fortunate high school students in theBaton Rouge area. This year’s project wassponsored by National Honor Society.The mission of The Cinderella Projectis to support young adults with resourcesthat may not exist for them otherwise. Joseph’s <strong>Academy</strong> and CatholicHigh School choral departments presentedtheir annual Christmas concerton December 5 at First Baptist Churchin downtown Baton Rouge.The SJA Singers were under the di- phenGalliano led the SJA/CHS ScholaCantorum. The SJA/CHS Glee Club performedunder the direction of both.The program featured a number oftraditional Christmas songs as well ascontemporary twists on classic Christmascarols.<strong>St</strong>udent Prints Celebrates 80th Anniversary<strong>St</strong>udent Prints, the <strong>St</strong>. Joseph’s<strong>Academy</strong> student-published newspaper,celebrated its 80th anniversaryCSJ, taught English at the <strong>Academy</strong>and founded the school newspaperin 1930.Over the years, <strong>St</strong>udent Prints hasgarnered numerous awards for jour- paper won second place in the 2010Louisiana Scholastic Press Asso-The annual SJA/CHS Christmas concert at First BaptistChurch rang in the season with traditional and contemporaryChristmas songs.The SJA administrative team spokewith the freshman class on October 8about the charism of the Sisters of <strong>St</strong>.Joseph; the history of the Sisters andthe <strong>Academy</strong>; and their personal experiencestraveling to Le Puy, France,where the Congregation was foundedtersa special grace, or charism, to liveand work to bring all people into unionwith God and the dear neighbor.Through pictures of the early Sisters,as well as scenes from Le Puy,including statues, monuments, shrines,<strong>St</strong>. Joseph, the administrators told thestory of the Sisters of <strong>St</strong>. Joseph andthe connection that each student has tothe <strong>Academy</strong> and its founders.The presentation was designed tohelp the freshmen embrace their pastand deepen their awareness of the hisciationNewspaper Contest and Cri-<strong>St</strong>udent Prints was judged to bethe second best high school newspaperin the large-school category.The statewide Best NewspaperCompetition judged high schoolnewspapers published during the2009-2010 academic year. 10 individual awards were broughthome by 2009-2010 <strong>St</strong>udent Printsstaff members.
